wiper fluid not coming, wiper OK

Well here is the prob....

My wiper fluid stopped coming so I topped off with the fluid. Now it is even worse... very little, if not at all is coming from the wiper blades .... the blades are fine ... on a rainy day works well.

I am here in Florida and I do have to clean the windshield when it gets dry and dirty ...

Anyone has any idea ??

maybe you got some debris stuck in the line near the tank. if only one was working, i would guess there's a clog at the actual wiper nozzle. but if both are not working, i say a clog or a bad motor.

I agree with the above. But if you had some little debris it might have gotten in the tubes and clogged both nozzles. Did they both stop a the same time?

If you are getting some fluid, it may not be the motor and blockage becomes more likely. Debris in the tank or even a crimped hose could do it.

Ask some one to activate the washer while the car is on and listen under the hood by the fluid tank to see if you can hear the motor.

Good luck.

Same thing happened to me....lost 80% of the pressure and was barely pissing out. Dealership replaced the pump I believe.

It could be some dried up stuff in the line since they both use the same line from the pump. If it's the pump then it's an easy fix. First see if you can hear the pump from outside the car. It's down under the passenger headlight. If it's working, I would drain it and run some straight hot water to see if you can clear it out. That crappy blue fluid leaves a residue that clumps up.

Windshield washer doesn't work with hood closed.

This is an interesting problem, after much investigation chasing various solutions, I have learned that in my 2003 G35 Sedan the windshield washers will not pump fluid when the hood is closed. The pump works fine with the hood up but not in a closed position. I have traced the fluid tube from the washer pump, through the fender wall, back into the engine compartment near the battery location and to the top of the fire wall to feet the tubes to the wipers. The hood doesn't seem to come close to the line. I am looking for help.

I'm experiencing same problem. When I disconnected hoses from nozzles on blade, turned the switch for washer fluids on and came out fine. When I reconnected then, it worked fine. Next day, both of them stopped again. I cleaned the nozzles under hot water and a pin and compressed air to remove any debris. It worked fine until next day, washer fluid would not come out. Disconnected the hoses, fluids came out as soon as the switch was on. So reconnected nozzles and works fine until next day. What is going on here?

I got it fixed and want to share with you guys. (especially CalEd might want to check this out!)

Hood was open, it works fine. Hood closed, both of them stopped. Then I totally forgot about I had my windshield replaced a few weeks ago. So I started taking trims along bottom of the windshield. Well, I found the problem right after I took a trim behind battery cover is. 3 sections of the hose was pinched there. Thus, when the hood closed, it added additional pressure from trim to the hose and no fluid was coming out.

I'm not taking my car back to the bodyshop for any work. Also I can't trust the dealer any more since they recommended the shop.

Try draining the fluid tank and replace with new washer fluid. Perhaps there is some dirt inside the tank and it is clogging up the lines/ nozzles.

Clean the nozzles with a small pin and some compressed air as mentioned before.

Thanks BTShadow, I too had my windshield replaced. When I opened up the trims under the windshield location, I found that the main hose was crimped under a hood pressure point. I appreciate your tip.

Wiper question

My wiper had a setting where as soon as i sprayed the fluid the blades will automatically wipe the screen. I dunno what i did, but now, when ever i spray the fluid i have to manually move the blade. Any ideas on how to fix this?

It should normally spray and wipe at the same time. All you do is lift the wiper lever up and hold.
