Your lucky. I've been to 2 dealers who have no idea what the whining buzzing sound is. And my 1-2 synchro is my clutch not fully disengaging

Good service in my immediate area is hard to find...Or everybody in my area (North jersey) are just too rich to care about money

I have a question, over night my car is parked inside the garage and in the morning when I crank it up, I can't get it into reverse or first gear. I have to really pull on the stick to get it into reverse. After I finally get it in and start moving it shifts just fine. But EVERY FREAKIN morning this happens. I have to put roughly 25lb of pull to get it in to gear it seems. I had the clutch and flywheel replaced ~4000 miles ago. Any ideas??

Try a synthetic gl-4 spec oil like amsoil or redline. Helped for me if it doesn't work switch back to nissan oil and go complain to the dealer.

when switching to the Synthetic gear oil do you have to flush out the transmission when switching? I know its probably hard to get all of the non-syn. out in a driveway app.

Nah just drain and refill. Make sure the car is level and supported on jackstands.

I'm on the 3rd. The first lasted to about 12k, then the second to about 18k, and now the 3rd has lasted so far to 77k with no indication of let up.

Quote: I just got my original tranny replaced last week 1/17/08. It was grinding when shifting in 5th and 6th gear. The grinding started a while back (I would say for probably almost 6 months), but it got much worse. It was an issue with the synchros. The car was under 26k and i got the 04 6MT. I guess this is a pretty common issue with tranny, damn I hope the same thing will not happen with the new one.
Bleezo3,

I have the same exact problem... Mine is an 05 6MT w/ 28k miles. I get that grinding noise in 5th gear and the dealership insisted it was my clutch! After getting ripped off for $400 (clutch replacement), it is still there. Its been a week and haven't driven the car. I'm taking this back to the dealership and make them replace my tranny. I'll complain to corporate also for replacing the clutch which I knew was fine.

Just for my own information: if the clutch is bad, won't it not shift at all to any gears? I just want to have some good argument to the dealer/corporate about them replacing my clutch!

Any info will be appreciated.

Thx.

I would tell them that I want my $ back since that wasnt the problem and they fixed what wasnt broken. Thats a bunch of BS.

^^ seems like a common pratice as that's what the dealers I went to want to do...I said F*** off. Now I'm just driving around pissed off about it. Dont' get me wrong it's a great car with bad synchros and service. Might cause me to just dump it.

wow I'm only at 32K but have a 04 that I purchased new in 05. Oh well being deployed really sucks, but on the plus side I won't be doing what I do every 2-3 yrs and trade my car in because when I return in 09 it will be like a new car to me again. Gotta love the military.

My 2nd and 3rd gear syncros went bad at 59,xxx miles. I got lucky in that it was still just barely under warranty.

Powertrain is 6 years 70,000 miles. You had plenty of time left
