Help me convince my father...

My dad is in the market for a new luxury-sport sedan and he is considering the Audi A6 2.7t (Audi is offering great deals), BMW 330xi and either the M45 or G35.

Personally, I would really like to see him get the G35, as it is the best deal out of all of them and equal's (if not exceeds) their performance. He likes the G's exterior styling, but he HATES the interior. He thinks its cheap and poorly designed (specifcally the center console).

Can any of you think of anything that I can show him/tell him to convince him otherwise? Are there any GOOD aftermarket dask kits that dont make it look cheesy but just add a subtle touch of class?

Also, he has yet to test drive any of these cars, but is swayed towards the audi because we already have an allroad...i tell him that the test drive should help him out deciding but he says that he doesnt want to deal with the interior for 3 years...Please, any suggestions on what I could show him or tell him...Is infinti making any improvements?

Re: Help me convince my father...

pogmaster, It might be hard to sway your Dad away from Audi but if anyone has a chance it's gotta be you.
Bring home some brochures and leave them around in strategic places . When it comes time to test drive suggest he go to the Infiniti dealer last. That'll leave him a 'more lasting' impression.
As far as the interior: I feel it's good for my tastes. It's not the best of all but not the worst or the most expensive as you've said. If it's the centre stack that's the bug-bear it can be changed quite easily with aftermarket 'kits' . Pictures of which should accompany or be pasted onto the brochures . You'll have to search our site for threads concerning this but shouldn't be hard to find. Our search button is up top.
Welcome to our site and good luck with persuading Dad.
My son begged me too. I'm glad he did.... hahaha

I have showed him the dash kits and he still doesnt like it. He actually went to the dealer to look at both cars and was impressed with the overall car, he just couldnt get over the interior. He has a brochure but it doesnt really help. And believe me, when it comes to propaganda, I am second to none.

Re: Help me convince my father...

Price is obviously not an issue, but there is something to be said about the price difference in the A6 to the G35. Warranty and Maintenance not an issue either since it seems he will be leasing.
Have you tried the amount of time the Audi will have to spend in the shop instead of in your Dad's garage?

Hey Gsedanman,
You could buy a third one and I'll keep it warm for you in Florida! I keep thinking it is so cold where you are that one day your coupe will head south with the geese.LOL

Re: Help me convince my father...

I am a former Audi owner and the 2.7T is a SWEET ride. The A6 styling has gotten a little dated and I am not sure if a re-design is due out soon. Couple of points though: The A6 will depreiciate fairly quick I beleive, of course depending on the deal he get's that might not matter. The Audi interior is second to none in the price point he is in. The A4 interior is awesome as well. I had some of the same feelings your dad did. I put in a Wood dash kit that matched the factory and it really added a touch of class to the G. As far as bang for the buck, that's definitely in the G's favor. Maintenance will go to Audi for the first 50K because it's all inclusive but in the long run, The G will win. It's pretty tough sell. Your dad is probably not an aftermarket guy so even the $400 to add a nice dash might not help him. One other point, if he's not looking at a Quattro then really sell the G. If you go Audi, you must go Quattro. Best of luck. Look under the rides forum for a few pics of the Wood grain. I don't have mine posted yet, but you'll get a good idea.

Re: Help me convince my father...

VQ has a point. Audis and VWs were taxis from where I came from, so I never pictured them to be one of the high end models. That is until I saw the interior of the Audi, it is truely second to none. And I think the A6 2.7T only comes in Quartro, so if your dad is looking for a AWD, don't think he'll ever settle on the G or even an M.

From sound of things, money doesn't seem to be a factor. If I were you, why give up on the G and get the M? IMO, the interior of the M is a lot classier or at least looked a bit more expensive then the G, the horse power is about 345, which is almost 100 more. I am pretty sure that it'll really stand out on the street as there won't be too many driving the M for quite a while. Just seems to me that you have a better chance to convince your dad to get an M45 then the G. Good luck.

G35: Black with Willow/Canadian Premium Package.
Z3: Silver with Red leather interior.

Re: Help me convince my father...

His price range is anywhere up to 45 so the M could be a possibility, he didnt like the interior on it either though.

I asked him about the possibility of an after market kit but the only pics i could find were of full kits which in my opinion look tacky.

About the 2.7t , he would like AWD but he has always had RWD and has never even purchased snow tires (winters arent usually THAT bad either). One selling point is the interior (same as our allroad), which is very nice. I think the exterior looks very outdated and buying the A6 would be like basically buying a 5 year old car that is on its way out of production. He can also get a very good deal on the A6, but I am trying to show him that he could save even more money on the G...if he could just get over the interior

Re: Help me convince my father...

Forget the M, it's a horrendous looking car. Interior is nice but no thanks. If it were my money, I would buy a 2002 Q45. You could pick one up in awesome shape for less than a new 2.7 and if you get the premium.....your talking world class car with serious options...Sonar, Video Camera. Whoa, check it out, the Q is sharp

Re: Help me convince my father...

pog. i just convinced my parents to buy a g35 sedan fully loaded except for body kit and navi. this is from a corolla they were going to buy lol. compared to a a6. g35 just looks more classy. At your parents age preformance blah blah blah don't matter as mcuh as "How they would look" driving a g35. U got to give them the idea that driving a g35 will bring UP their status from whatever it is now. If you seriously think about it. listen to the 2 names Audi then Infiniti. Infiniti to me sounds a lot more luxurious (forgive my spelling if it is wrong). Also don't forget the brakes and suspension on the g35 is a lot better than the audi. There are a million audi's out there and a lot less g35's. It looks a lot better and u get a lot more attention. I know that will go away over time but use what u have Now. Another thing is that audi's have a lot of maitenance problems.. DOn't even mention the bmws.. If ur parents are looking for the sporty type get the aluminum trim. It looks a lot better. The interior is nice with the aluminum trim. I personally hate the wood. Adding the wing makes the car look a lot better so try to get that too. Well hope u got something to use to help persuade ur dad. G luCk.

Re: Help me convince my father...

Best way to convice him is to show him this forum and what we have to say. I mean, we are G35 Drivers/owners and opinions to the cars from actually owners can't go wrong. Throughout this forum there are negatives and positives, but the good definitely outweighs the bad. There's nothing much you can do to the interior and it will never compare to the quality of an Audi, but in my opinion it beats the BMW. Maybe he should sit in the Willow leather interior cars at the dealership. Black leather with aluminum trim may be a bit more sporty. My parents chose the willow leather because we found it more classy.

If he doesn't want to read this off the computer, print it out for him to read =) I convinced my parents to choose the G35 over an MB E500 and saved them half the cost along with other reasons. He'll know what's best for him and his decision.
