Tracking and Wheels

First question is what size rims are good for tracking? I was thinking of getting 19" staggerd, but I dont think 19" would be good. so maybe 18" staggerd. PLEASE give me in put on that. I dont know anything about tire's or off sets.
I've tryed to look it but no stright answers there.

Second question is Im planning on going to the track in march. with some friends and family. I think us local G-sedan driver should get together for a meet and have a TRACK day. Im new to the hole track thing but Its going to be fun. So if your intrested let me know how you feel and we should work somethin out for this summer. or spring.

Thanks,
-Loc

if you want some track dedicated wheels then i'd got the 5-Zigen FN01Rc's in 17's. They're very light and strong. If you want some wheels that will look good on the street and still be good for track use then i'd go with some lightweight 18's.

Yes light 18's is a good choice.

Get as wide as you can fit.

8.5" F
9.5-10" R

245's F
275's R You might be able to go wider depending on how low your car is but at the same time you may need to roll your fenders to put these on.

The 5 zigens mentioned come in 18x8.5(38 off ) and 18x9.5(45 off) lightest reasobably priced 18's I've seen. Also check the 5zigen Pro racer Gn. I'd check with the site sponsors first, then edgeracing.com if they cant help.

Are there any tracker's in here? or any one ever think of tracking? It would be cool to just gather a lot of people and track or just have a meet point.

I wouldnt say they're strong. I bent a few...they're just cheaper to replace.

This my old setup:
FN01RC
17x10 +25 245/40/17 Eagle GSCS
17x10 +12 275/40/17 Eagle GSCS
you can get the tires from Bob Woodman (google it) you can also inquire about buying used race tires from him for cheaper. They're cheaper than new RA-1 or NT-01, and grip way better. Just dont drive'em in the rain.

My next setup is going to be 255/40 and 315/35. The tires are firly light weight and the fronts are still fairly stretched to aid in turn-in, and because the car is now FI'd, i need all the rear traction I can get.

What do you left-coasters consider "tracking"? Dragging and autocrossing/road racing benefit from different wheel sizes; fronts don't really matter on a drag car (though skinnier decreases rolling resistance), but you want the smallest diameter rim that will clear your brakes in the rear (fat, soft sidewalls help with traction). For autocrossing and road racing, I definitely wouldn't go over 18", and it's not cheap or easy to find a good race tire even that big. If you can dedicate a set of rims just for racing, save yourself some unsprung weight and stick with 17"s.
