Pioneer avic z1 install question

I just got mine installed and there is a tiny gap on the bottom. I have looked at that big thread with blackonblackg35 and thats snugged perfectly. My top is fine, but the bottom he said he put a little piece of black wood or something. I dont think he put that black cover around it. Im going to have to check again. The install looks nice and obviously the tiny gap cant be seen at night. I dunno

$250, but $50 more for PAC steering wheel controls. Other places wanted like $500 I gave up. Its nice so far no complaints. Gap doesnt really bother me, hard to see.

Good price. I need to see where I can get that type of price around my way.

Most DD decks come with a trim ring to fix any gaps. Being this is an iso-mounted deck there is always a chance that stuff won't line up exactly. Post a pic and we can help more.

ya the trim ring isnt in the box, i remember seeing it before giving it to them. I will check if the ring is around the unit. I will take pics, still looks good. Whats iso-mounted deck?

Iso-mount is the style of how the stereo installs. Some use a "can" that is installed and the stereo locks into it. Iso is the other main style where the stereo itself is secured (bolted or screwed) to the car itself. In the G it uses the main bracket behind there to mount the stereo. It's some trial and error to get it just right. I ended up making a new trim ring for my first Eclipse deck (5495) because it didn't come with one.

Hmm the shop that installed mine made a black shiney fiberglass border for it to cover the gaps.

I used the trim ring and hot glued it to the deck. I think it looks great.

Ok. That sucks for them. I always hated installing decks without a trim ring. I was so mad when my 1st AVN didn't have one. Now they all come with them.
