The Air Filter Mod.

My first engine mod on the car is going to be to replace the air filter assembly with a cone or ram air type.

Who and what works best on installation ease and such on the 2005 Sedan?

I tried to search but it didn't help...mainly because i'm lacking the terminology.

I went with the stillen intake. I picked mine up from a fellow member. Mine is a coupe, but it's the same set up

Good luck

Before I had my TT, I had the Stillen with UTR CF Z-tube.

But your first mod should be a plenum spacer. Better gains than an intake.

That is a JWT Popcharger. It is very similar to the Stillen with exception of the "box" Stillen utilizes to supposedly prevent engine heatsoak. Run a seach for popcharger and you can find all the info you ever wanted and then some.

In the end, you won't feel any gains from intakes. They are mostly sound and appearance mods. Intakes have historically been one of the most hotly debated items on this forum. If you search you can find a plethera of information.

EDIT - now that i look at it again, it seems that is the Stillen filter with a popcharger heatshield. Stillen filters are red, popchargers are blue if I am not mistaken.

For info on the intake spacer check out MmotorDynes website. They have pretty detailed instruction online.

http://www.motordyneengineering.com/manual.asp
They are just one of several manufacturers.

Also check the sticky under intake/ exhaust in the tech section

JWT is much louder than the stillen.

but stillen looks more mature/subtle

as you see, i like things color matched

if you get an intake, get a AEM dryflo filter to go with it. Do not purchase a Oil type filter - will only screw up your MAF

K&N filters will not screw up your MAF sensor! Only if you over oil the filters when you recharge them will you have problems...
