2005 brakes
You can check the outer pad just by looking inbetween the spokes of the wheel. It's too bad that typically the inner pad wears faster. But this should give you a basic idea what condition your pads are.
I mean, it's not rocket science to kneel down and look at parts on your car.

Like Jeff says - take a look for yourself. You can pull the wheel and inspect the brakes in minutes - no need to spend any money or take the car anywhere. In the time it takes you to drive the car to the tire shop you can do the inspection yourself in the driveway.

I've got 29K on my 05 and the front pads are still at 6-7/32nds, same with the rear. Cant say as much for the rotors that are warped to hell (lots of canyon driving

The oem brakes are very soft for better performance, so the life is shorter. The 05+ are better with larger rotors and better calipers but they still will not last like some others. It's the price you pay for a sports sedan. IMO it's worth it but I also replaced them with even better brakes that last even less time.
