Im trying to see if their is enough room in the headliner to conceal a radar detector in my sedan. Id like to take the plastic console that houses the overhead lights, sunroof control and sunglass holder out to examine the area in there to mount a Bel Sti Driver radar detector. I drive in VA and DC often and dont want my radar to be too obvious. Im pretty sure I will have to cut up the inside of the sunglass holder area as well as a part of the forward facing headliner. Any ideas would help?
Yep in DC and VA.
You are going to have to do some major cutting to put that up there. What about the ones that mount around your car and you just have a small display?

All other radar detectors are detectable by what is called Spectre. Its similar to VG2 but its the latest and greatest and will see all other detectors, remote mount or not, except for the Bel STI Driver, so I really need to go with this unit. Part of what I want to do is make the unit as visibly stealth as possible too. Ive tried a few locations and you can see it through my legal window tint.
I think I may have to cut a small area inside the sunglass flip down thingy and it will work fine. A small area out of the forward facing part of the headliner will be discreet enough I think. I tried to pop out the whole assembly but its tight in there, I figure there have to be some tabs or some trick to get it out.
