05 rotors
Is it possible to swap the 04 rotors with the 05/06? Or is it better to go with an oem size aftermarket drill/slotted ones. which after market rotors are good, there is just so many of the on ebay.
I don't think you can change to the 05's without also changing the calipers. The best bet is to get oem size rotors with good pads or to get the racingbrake 13" oem caliper bbk.
The 05 X's use the older brakes found on the 03-04's
I "upgraded" my 03 brakes to the 2005 brakes for the front and rear and really like them better. The fronts have 2 pistons which is nice, but I think it was the pads that really made the difference. Definitely less (none) brake dust, which was a huge plus. I remember on the old pads I would wash my car one day and 2 days later the rims would start to look dirty again. I can't really say if the stopping distance improved at all, but there definitely was not a decline in performance for me.

hahahha
I bought mine used off of another member on the board. For the front and rear calipers, pads, lines, and rotors I paid $450 picked up. They were pretty much new at the time. The previous owner had upgraded to a Stoptech BBK.
