I read somewhere that Bosch makes a decent filter. Autozone occasionally puts them on buy one get one free. Works out to a couple bucks so I stock up. I'm also a big fan of the 5qt mobile1 jugs at walmart.

Awesome...I bought 6 of these, which I normally buy at Napa locally. WIX are awesome and have great results (in all of the comparisons), especially for the price.

Thanks to the OP...saved about $1 per filter and now have a good stock on hand.

Was told years ago by a nissan service manager friend to use any oil I wanted, but stick with the Nissan filter...
The Nissan dealers here will give you a discount if you buy several at a time.
If I didn't use OEM, I would use WIX from NAPA!!
This thread is about 2 years old! so,

Can't beleive some of you guys are paying close to $13 for a Mobil filter. The M-108 and M-110 are $9.98 at Autozone here.

You might want to rethink the use of the OEM filters since they are now made in China.

I have the Purolator PureONE filter in my car, and for the cheaper price and better efficiency than the OEM filter, I'll be using Purolator filters from now on. Plus, I like how the PureONE filter has a gritty texture around the exterior so it makes removal of the filter hassle-free and almost effortless. Say goodbye to oil filter wrenches!

Interesting read!!
I noticed that they were no longer made in Japan several months ago.
But, will stay with my OEM filter, M1 Syn, and changing my oil around 3 to 3.5K miles!

There is also a taller OEM filter that can be used. Found this out when we owned a couple of Pathy's.

Wix are the best value, agree with OP. Bosch I haven't heard about oil filters from them being anything......(Honeywell repackage?)

M1 is good from industry reports, but I can buy 2 Wix for the same money, so.......how good is it?

I was looking for the thread that did a comparison on filters but couldn't find it. Bosch was definately one of the good ones so I just stuck with them since they are so cheap. Whenever autozone has a buy one get one free, I stock up. I can get 4 for the price a M1. 83k miles with 7500 mile intervals with no probs.

TON of info. Bosch seems to be a decent filter. Champion lab made as with the Mobil and K&N (although it seems the Mobil 1 has a better filter media)

And of course the good Wix filter also makes Napa Gold filters

Purolator seems good too.

It seems, it's not really what's the best but what to avoid. (FRAM!). At least their lower lines.

Purolator is a very good filter as others have mentioned. I'd rate them as good as the Napa's. The very best is still the M1 and K&N. The Purolator PureOne and Napa gold's both use the silicone ADBV. OEMs are usually made by fram, which is okay for 3000 miles but they have a very horrible spring system which can get locked. I'd use the PureOne or the Napa's which ever can be had for cheapest. Pepboys has a deal for 5 quarts Pennzoil Yellow bottle and a Purolator for 15.99 The PYB are also great dino oil which is GroupII+ that can easily last into 5k-7k oil change intervals no problem using PureOne filters.

Kragens also has a sale on pennzoil oil. $3.99/quart for the Pennzoil platinum which is a great Group III mixed oil. FYI Mobil 1 is also a group III base oil. They stopped using group IV which is a true synthetic. The only true synthetic oil on the market now is Amsoil, Royal Purple, Redline, I don't recall if the new Castrol Edge is a Group IV or group III but it is overpriced i would go with amsoil before buying castrol EDGE.

That's a good price for Penzoil Plat. I think I paid $23 for the 5 qt container of this at WalMart.
