couple of questions

hey, got a couple of quick questions:

i have an '04 X. today, i pressed the snow button to get into this parking spot (probably could've done without the button, but wanted to feel cool lol). so, after parking, i forgot to turn the button off and just turned off the engine. came back to the car bout 5 minutes later, turned the car on, and noticed the gas needle was significantly lower than i had left it 5 minutes earlier. does having the snow button ON kill the gas like that?

secondly, i got my 30k service done at a nissan dealership a few days ago. first thing i noticed that the fuel economy in the navi showed me that my gas mileage was 6.9!! that just seemed crazy. as the the day moved on, it went as HIGH as 9.6!! i reset it yesterday, and it reached 11.* lol.

and lastly, this morning i turned on my car in the 30 degree weather. i went to get something from the trunk and looked at my exhaust. only one of the two had smoke coming out. is that normal, or should both of them have some sort of smoke activity in the first startup of the day in 30 degree weather lol.

any comments/answers are welcome

thanks!

I can't help with the first 2 questions.
As for the exhaust, thats normal for sure. A valve (or flipper) opens in the second pipe.usually around 1800 rpm and higher.
You hear that awesome Grrrrr sound as your slowing down?!Thats because it's closing.
But sounds cool huh?

I assume "turning the car on" means starting the engine. (Turning a chick on is a similar operation, IIRC). No, the Snow Mode button does not siphon gas from a non-running car. I can`t imagine what happened to the gas, unless someone did, indeed, siphon some while you were gone. I don`t have nav, so can`t offer any help on the economy readings. I`m still stuck in the 20th century, and use the old "miles travelled divided by fuel used" plan. Sounds weird, though, that it ocurred after the 30K service.

by turning the car on, yes, i mean the engine hehe

i know, it doesn't seem normal. before the service, my gas mileage wasn't great, but my first fill-up after the service lasted about 190 miles and the current one has 80 miles on it, and the needle is at the half way point already lol. during the service, they asked me if i wanted to do the fuel injector service. they said its recommended at the mileage my car was at and it cleans out the fuel system and gives better mileage as well. i said ehh, ok... but doesn't seem like it did anything productive lol

this is not cool, not cool at all lol

Take a look under your car and make sure they didnt put a nice dent in your fuel tank (i.e. with a floor jack or something like that).
