The one thing I found is, if you lift the hqandle, and attempt to unlock with the Fob, it won't unlock, the solution I found is to re-lock the car with the Fob, and then unlock, then it works, not sure if this is similar to anything you guys are referring to or not!

Re: driver side door locks automatically sometimes

I have a 2003.5 sedan. I have experienced the auto locking drivers door. It usually happens when I put gas in the car. Just the other day I filled it up and was surprised to find the drivers door locked when I went to get back in. I always take my keys with me. I know it was not me hitting the lock on the key fob since the other doors were open.

i too have the .5 sedan.. It happened to me couple of times too... Usually happens during winter... I brought it back to the dealer. And the tech told me it's due to some kinda of moisture in the door lock... they have no fix for it yet...

What's being discussed here is not the accidental click on the FOB.

When you pull the door lever, there's a natural tendency to follow the motion by a shove to push the door open. Sometime, this 'shove' results in an accidental push to the locking flap, and here lies the source of the mysterious 'locked' doors.

Give it a try ... you'll see what I mean

Yes.

The reply was directed to sljer's post. His dealer's mechanic thinks otherwise and believed it was the 'moisture'

Re: driver side door locks automatically sometimes

I just had the same thing. I pulled the car out of the garage, opened the door and just let it just touch the car. Shut the garage door and found the door locked and just barely attached to the car. The other doors were unlocked so I was able to get in. I KNOW I didn't touch either the handle lock (would have locked all 4 doors) or the switch lock.

Strange. I guess I need to put the plastic key in my wallet.

No, if you have all doors unlocked, and push the lock at the handle, just your door will lock, not like if you push the lock button by the window controls, I just went out and tried it!

Re: driver side door locks automatically sometimes

I was at a gas station last week and it happened again. I filled up the car and then tried to get back in and only the drivers door was locked. I know I unlocked the car because I use the fob to unlock all the doors to make sure I can open the fuel door. This is the 4th or 5th time this has happend and I know it was not a human error.

I'm guessing the driver's door was closed when you used the keyfob to unlock the doors to get to the gas cover. If that's the case, what you did was unlock the door, then not open it for a long enough period of time that the car assumed you pushed the button by accident... and it re-locked the door.

danner23, <blockquote><font class="small">In reply to:</font><hr>

The service mgr tells me that G35 does not have the ability to lock automatically, only the new G35X does

<hr></blockquote>

The automatic feature I'm talking about in my previous post is self explanatory and on my Coupe very real. I'm not sure if the Sedan I had was the same but I think so.

Perhaps your Service mgr thought you asked about auto locking doors that are activated when the car is driven away. That feature we don't have. The other one we do.
Try it.
