an upset roadkill...oops !

After dropping off my 4 yr old daughter at school this morning, I came to a red light. A guy in a Ford (smaller car, not a Focus, not sure of the model, looked like a smaller Sable, it said "SVT" on the side, also had "SVT" sticker on his side window) who gunned his engine. We had slightly more than 1/4 mile to merge into the outerbelt. My lane had right of way, his lane had to merge into mine. (Keep in mind I am ususally a fairly conservative driver, and while I enjoy twisty backroads, I have never been in a "racing" situation w/ my G35, which I've owned for 8 mths.) Light turns green, after he guns it, I say "What the hell" and floor it. When he realized he could not get in front of me..he rides my back bumper until we both get on the outerbelt. I let off by then, he passes me, gets next to me and "waves at me w/ 1 finger" !! Ooops !

Tis the season to be merry. Don't let it get to you. Let that incident slide off you like water on a duck's back. People get mad so easily for the stupidest reasons. He also might have had G envy. Its not worth worrying about.

Also be glad this did not happen with your daughter in the car and you did not have to explain what the finger was to her.

I have a 2 1/2 year old and kids can challenge us to be better people.

I had the same thing happen to me with a VW bug. I am driving real mellow. This guy cuts in front of me for no reason at a stop light. so I move to the next lane over which is clear. light turns green and I roast him to the next light and move into the open lane which is in fron t of him. This guy is pissed becuase I know he was trying. Oh well

You were probably racing a Contour SVT. Nice car but only 200 horseys with a 7.1 0-60 time

I say congratulations. One of the things to love about the G is that it's comfortable to tool around town but has plenty of power to roast the occasional rice-rod on straights and twisties.

I know it's immature, but I just can't resist the temptation to steal other people's thunder.

Thanks folks. I'm not worried at all about it. He probably saw my WInnie The Pooh sunshade and figured I would not challenge him.I was just surprised at his response, which included him cutting me and several other drivers off after I beat him. Now had my little one been in the car w/ me, I would not have challenged him.

(about the Pooh sunshade...I know, I know...)

Enjoy your G's !

Re: an upset roadkill...oops !

the car you raced was an svt contour...3 liter v6 with a 5 speed tranny. Not bad cars, handle and drive pretty well for a wrong wheel drive car.

Re: an upset roadkill...oops !

Those SVT Contours only got the 2.5 litre Duratec V-6 up here in Canada. I considered one some time ago, but ended up with just the ordinary Contour V-6.
The 3.0 motor was the one I wanted, but not available here.

When I roll up on people with the "baby on board sign" It can only mean one thing, "Race On"
