could they be sneaking in that VIN window etching fee into that inflated documentary fee? because my dealer tried to slip that etching fee by me at the last minute as the check was being written. good luck.

My dealer wasn't at all sneaky nor high pressure, everything was pretty straight forward, this is the first time I have bought a vehicle from a salesman in like 20 years, I would always have a connection through my job, would usually deal with the GM in most cases, then he'd turn me over to a sales person to finalize the deal!

I highly recommend that you spend the $29.95 at FightingChance.com for the information on the G35 before you negotiate your deal. You get a full packet of info about the car, pricing history, invoice prices for all the car variations and available additions from both factory and dealer. Plus, advice on negotiating and a page of reports back from past buyers on what they ended up paying in relation to invoice price.

I used this info to negotiate my G35 sedan here in Austin at invoice plus $500. I imagine if I had wanted to spend more time beating on them I could have gotten it down a little more. The dealer admitted that the Fighting Chance invoice amounts were "very accurate".

BTW, I paid a "documentary fee" as part of the TTL but it was $50, which I thought was probably a rip-off but I let it go. So, at least $450 of that in your deal -- if not the whole amount -- is probably just the dealer slipping a few more easy dollars out of your pocket.

I was so pleased with the Fighting Chance info that I bought an add-on for half price for my stepson who was buying a Honda Accord Coupe. He used it, spent two days hassling and got it for invoice + $150 or so, after they had started by telling him what he wanted was a "rare car" that they would only sell at MSRP plus!
