I went this weekend and had a crappy time. It was very windy and some moron crashed all the way at the end of the track, after the 1/4 which closed it down for over an hour so we were only there for two hours.
I had my chrome 20's and all the other heavy stuff, spun through 1st and 2nd so the best I was able to do was a 13.0 @ 115.
I got in a great burnout on the last run but was used to feathering the clutch through 1st and 2nd so when I got grip in first it caught me off guard and I bogged hard and almost stalled it. To tell you how bad the bog was, my helmet hit the steering wheel! From there I took off like a rocket and still ran a 13.1. If I would have had a better launch that was a 12.8 or better. My friends got a video of one run so I can show you how bad I spun but didn’t get the bog vid. They said everyone went ohhhhhh when I did it.
Next time I am going to put my 17's back on and see what I can do. The dubbs were not helping.
You need slicks or DRs to land a remotely respectable time. On street tires, you've got a battle you'll never win.Originally Posted by ttrank

Yeah I know. I just don't do it enough to justify buying a set of drag radials or slicks.

put your stock 17's on and get some Bridgestone RE-01R's for the rear, they're a great street/track tire and should yeild you alot more traction then the 20" Nitto's. or if you're stuck on the Nitto's get a set of 555R's for the rear.Originally Posted by ttrank

I went out and got my slips, I was wrong. My 13.0 was at 111 and my best trap was 115 on a 13.1 run.

the track and the street are completely different times.Originally Posted by VQ Hotness

You can get a decent idea of what your trap would be based on that race but the time comes down to so much more.

but track conditions and traction are a big factor...
i was hoping to see vinny ten run 12's easy in the desert sand G35 Coupe he brought w/ twin turbo but spinning 1st, 2nd, and 3rd wasn't pretty.

Out here this is the time to hit the track. It's still cold at night. When summer hits and it's 100 at 10:00pm times will go way up!

yeah the night i went the week b4 i ran it dropped to 58 from 75! i coudlnt run b/c i had shorts on
ill never go back to the track with 19 or 20" wheels again. ive come to realize its just a waste of expensive threadwear, tranny, and 1/4 mile times. lol im gonna look into getting back some oem's again or somethin and throw some chunky tires on em....knew i shouldnt have sold mine!! did u guys run it in 3rd all the way through the 1/4? what about u TTrank? when i nailed 4th i actually lost traction for a sec and wobbled bc of some moron who crashed and spilled shyt all over the track earlier but i luckily caught it quickly at ~97mph. i must have seen 10 people blow their engines that night whatta pita.
def post that vid up T!

Yeah 17's for me next time.

I had to shift to 4th because my trap speeds were 111+ on all my runs.
