AeroCatch flat hood pins on Sedan

So I put my Stillen CF hood back on this weekend because I like the looks better than the stock on. I know a lot of people don't but you really need to see it in person. I never liked any of the pictures either but in person it looks great. I have never had anyone not tell me how good it looks.

But anyway, with how I modified my Nismo front end the airflow was causing the hood to flex a lot and I was scared. So Mike at Intense Motorsports hooked me up with a set of these flat pins from AeroCatch.

I am very impressed with them. I was never a fan of pins but these are for function not looks so I am very happy they look as good as they do.

Here are a few pics. I need to make better mounts for the pins but at least for now I am safe. There is no hood flex any more and peace of mind is so worth it.

I'm going to have my painter spray them with the black so they blend better but for now:

Thanks guys

I was worried about taking away from the look my car has by adding pins but I really think these are going to be ok once they are painted.

If you add a fiberglass or CF hood these are a good way to go.

Thanks.

You have to cut out for the latches and then they mount with 6 bolts, washers, and nylon nuts. I had to make the holes larger on the bottom side to get a 7mm socket in there. Then you mount the pins just like you would with a standard set. Since these went a bit higher up on the hood than a standard pin kit would, I couldn't mount the pins in the front structure and had to make brackets for them, which I am not 100% happy with so I will be making better ones later.

They look way up in the pictures but in person they look closer to the front of the car.

The latch on aftermarket carbon fiber and fiberglass hoods are held in place by resin which can crack and cause the hood to fly up while driving. One G had his come up and broke the moonroof on the highway!

Here is a good description of them:

hood pins

good looking pins and hood, was it hard to install it? How long did it take and will you able to provide DIY on hood pins?

LOOK GREAT!!! - very sporty and clean with the flush pin covers on the painted hood. Umm, make me think about mine now! I have to agree with you, the Stillen hood does look much better than stock hood and in person.
