03 G sedan ROTOR replacement only 40K!!??

I recently took my car in for break service, and found out that i needed to replace my front rotors already, how many of you guys out there have replace the rotor already? Because the previous cars that i own i have never had to replace the rotors. So i end it up calling two dealers and spoke to the service advisors regarding the rotors and they both confirm that this is a known issues and complaints from 03 and 04 owners. Just wondering how many of you guys out there has gone through this?

I had mine done at about 18K when I brought it in for a routine service with no problem in the brakes noted by me (and I don't think I drive it that hard). It was done under warranty with a billed cost of $209 for the rotors, $60 for the pads and $67 for the labor.

Changed all my rotors and pads at 44K. Go aftermarket and avoid the dealer--you can find the parts cheaper, they work just as good as OEM, and any tire/brake shop can do the installation...

My rotors were toast at 36K and out of the warranty by 3 months. I didn't waste my time with OEM replacement rotors because Brembo now makes replacement rotors for over half the cost (~$50/ea @ the Tirerack). I'd suggest buying Brembo rotors and OEM pads ($50) and taking the parts to a qualified shop. It shouldn't be more than a $100 for install. Or you can install everything yourself in about an hour with a breaker bar, rachet, a couple sockets, a jack, and a dead blow rotor to pop the rotor off if it's rusted to the hub. Replacing pads/rotors on these cars is terribly easy.

Not quite. The Brembo rotors for cars with VDC (all US versions) are $91 ea.

as others have said, you got a lot from your brakes.

I went with aftermarket R1 rotors, stainless steel brake lines and Hawk pads. They work just ar well as the stock and hardly any dusting on the front rims

I'm at 36K, and nothing was mentioned about the brakes when I had a tire rotation earlier this week.

I just had my brakes and rotors replaced this past weekend.
Cost me $639, not as good as maybe doing it yourself, but not as painful as what the dealer was asking which was either $1000 or $1200 (don't remember because I got dizzy after hearing the quote)
I brought my car a 2003 Obs. blk sedan with 50k already on it.
I was told at about 58k that I would need to have my brakes pads replaced and my rotors either turn or also replaced. I think the previous owner had them replaced under the recall as mentioned in other replies.

So if you are just getting yours replaced then you got more then good use out of them.

I recommend looking around for a good price.

It's the dealer's $99.50/hr rate that blows the price sky high.

Good luck.

I would go with the racing brake rotors and either hawk or project mu rotors. If you check out their site you can read about how good their products actually are. Racingbrake.com

Not when I bought mine last year. Also, why would VDC make a lick of difference? There's nothing attached to the rotor. Also, all G35s have VDC Tirerack must be confused because the Brembo replacements look exactly like the OEM rotors.

Haha i just posted a thread a few days ago. I have 19k miles and need to replace the rotors also. They quoted me $592, dealer charges $105/hr rate... I didnt get it done yet, looking for other alternatives.
