Just got a G

Last week and I love it........

out with the old

and in with the new

I'm kinda new here, I registered a long time ago because I was a lurker lol. I have driven and 2002 I35 for the past 5 years (I hate that cars guts and cannot wait to get rid of it) I would have never considered another Infiniti but I drove the G's a couple times (loaners) and really like them so I figured I would give Infiniti one more shot. I just got and 06 Sedan 5AT, 7800 miles, Diamond Graphite/black interior with Sport, Premium, and Navi packages as well as clear bra and lojack. I think it's fully loaded. I really like this car and this forum and people here have been lots of help. Thanks.

I have a couple of concerns, since I have gotten the I have noticed something weird about the tranny, when going up a slight incline at about 45 MPH and lightly accelerating, the car is in 5th gear and needs to go to 4th for more power, but instead of shifting, the car stays in 5th and starts to shudder until I push the gas hard, forcing it to shift. Has anyone experienced anything like this??? I wanted to check the fluid and could not find it so I called Infiniti and they told me that I cannot check it, it's sealed and to leave it alone. Is this true?

Another thing that is bugging me is (after reading the other thread about odometers going fast) I decided to test the G odo to the I odo. I reset the trip computer in the I35 in my driveway and drove it to work and back. Pulled in my driveway and it was 6 miles even. Then, reset the trip in the G and drove it to work (same speed and route to the T) and came back, pulled in the driveway and it said 6.5 miles. WTF???

Should I complaing about these issues to Infiniti? I hate going to the dealers and having them touch my cars (every visit always comes with a knick, dent, scratch, gouge, etc. free of charge, sprinkled with a little bit of attitude)

Anyway, thanks for all the help and answering my questions everyone. This is a great site.

PS how do I change my name from i35 to g35 without re-registering?

you know what, you really should go to the dealer for those issues.. if you don't trust the infiniti dealer you bought the car from, im sure some members would be more than willing to help you locate a good dealer and service bay.. just put down your location in your profile so people can help. The incline thing is wierd, u really mite want them to check out your tranny. powertrain warranty for my 04 is 80k miles, im sure u have nothing to worry about.

Downshifting issue is odd - mine is seamless.

Welcome to the fold - you might hate your I, but it's a good looking car.

Your I35 was a beautiful car I had a 02 Max SE pretty much the same car and didn't have any problems out of it sounds like you should bring up all of your gripes at your first service. Your service manager should ride with you to duplicate the problem and schedule a loaner in advance. Are you here in Hawaii?

Your downshifting issue sounds like a bad torque converter issue I had on my 300zx. Definately take it in to a dealer that will take care of you.

they said it's a software issue.. and they doubt infiniti will do anything in the near future.. 3 dealers told me the same thing~

nice, the shutter thing may be the cars ecu adapting to your driving. infiniti service here is pretty much awsome. the car only has about 8k on it and is about a year old so it may have been parked for a while.
