In that sense...yes I would be driving too fast for conditions.

Since I don't drive like that, please get off my back about my driving. I don't drive like I'm Superman and I know to ease up if road conditions aren't good. Like every guy on this forum...I love my car too much to let anything happen to it.

When I say I zoom past other drivers...its all relative to the speed of the other motorists. If they are going 5mph down the road and I'm able to go at 15-20mph with no issues....is that speeding and driving wrecklessly by your definition?

I don't need you to preach to me about how I am the type of person that causes accidents...been driving for 9 years just fine and haven't even gotten a single ticket in my life. So please preach somewhere else bro.
I have Avon MS550s on my G35. They're great tires, but they don't defy physics and common sense when it comes to driving. 9 years of driving is meaningless because even professional race car drivers make mistakes. I've been driving for nearly 20 years and I will never consider myself an expert driver on the street because conditions are ever changing.

If you were hydroplaning with the MS550s, then you were clearly going too fast and the tires WERE NOT doing their job. They didn't save you from a wreck. What saved you was your ability to slow the car down without a wreck.

yeap, you fell into the common misconception that awd by itself is a miracle worker. i made full use of my snow tires on both vehicles this weekend. on saturday the G got snowed in by the weather and the plows. yesterday i had fun shoveling snow 2 feet deep and 1.5 ft high. mind you this was pretty much iced over. after breaking off the crap that people shoveled behind me. i just turned off vdc put it in reverse and gunned it. the fx i put into snow mode and moved into out of unplowed spots w/ ease.

just remember snow mode is only good in first/second gear (iirc). on the highway it shuts off. oh and changing rims twice a year is a small price to pay for safety.

Did I claim to be a racecar driver? Did I claim that I'm an excellent driver? I don't think I stated any of that in my previous posts and if I gave off that impression...I didn't mean to.

I didn't have my m550 A/S on when that incident occurred...it was on stock tires. Did I claim my tires saved me from a wreck...b/c I thought I stated that the car's AWD system or the traction control corrected my car.

Could you please stop putting words in my mouth...I get enough of that from my gf. You said what you had to say and so have I, please lets both move onto more important things....like where am I going to go for lunch today

Good move. That's what I did. Went w/ the Dunlop M3's for snows. Glad to hear you didn't wreck too bad!

As for the RWD just as good as AWD in the snow comment above, I don't agree w/ that comment. I got stuck in my driveway in 5" of snow while trying to pull into my garage on Friday. I know that wouldn't have happened if I had power to all 4 wheels. My wife's car is AWD and had no issues at all.

I was slighly embarrassed to be Gx owner on Saturday. Parked on the street over a friends house. Next morning, they had plowed blocking my car in. It took me over 3hours to get out after 5 gallons of Hot water, broken car snow remover, broken hydrolic trunk opener, burned out remaining tread on tires. BTW, the stock Turanza sucks a$$. I just ordered Yoko Avid V4S from tirerack.com 10mins ago. And why is it that no shop keeps our tire size in stock. Everyone told me that it had to be ordered.

not, not usually.

it was on hardcore when i hit the snow tho. Usually when I loose traction, I tap the gas a bit and the front wheels center the car. that didnt happen on sunday - guess cause I was on the highway

yeah, definitely get snow tires. love my G35X, but the stock tires suck in snow! So, I got bllizzaks on aftermarket rims from tirerack (like $900 mounted and shipped). These tires rock!! Yes, there are only a few bad snows here, but when I need to get to work at 6am and roads aren't plowed, these tires are awesome! Drive through unplowed with no problem. I got stuck only once -- when I drove into a snowbank to avoid 2 kids on a snowmobile in the middle of the road! Luckily they pushed me out!

Kash
