Clunk in morning

Hi all,
I have a '03 6MT with 3,800 miles. In the last week, in the mornings, when I put the car into reverse I get a terrible clunk from the rear, as though the calipers are sticking. It's only in the morning, on cold starts, when backing out of the garage.

Any ideas on what's causing this? Anyone else experiencing the same?

Bro, Look in this thread-- HERE . I know it's the Coupe forum but I think the same answers apply.

Re: Clunk in morning

I appreciate pointing me to the thread. But, I don't know... I let the car warm up for a bit, giving the VDC plenty of time to do its self-test. And I've done a bit of testing... seems to only happen when the parking brake is on. I'm more inclined to think it's the pad sticking to the rotor, as mentioned in the thread you directed me to.

However, I don't think this should be happening, and I don't think it's part of the VDC test.

Car is going in for first oil change tomorrow, and I'll ask then.

Oops... my bad. I re-read the manual. Seems this is considered "normal" VDC behavior. Go figure.

Thanks for directing me to the thread.

Yeh I'm sure most of what you are hearing is normal, except the brakes sticking to the discs. Try not applying the emergency to see what difference that makes. If you're in cold climate like me, you prolly won't want to leave it applied too much so that it won't freeze to the disc.
