Re: Sedan Oversteer

raj,

This was power on oversteer that I expected based on what I had seen with VDC on...question was how much oversteer given reasonable input without VDC...sorry if I gave the impression that it was not expected. I've observed that not many people admit to driving around with VDC off...nor should most of us that are not use to the power this car has and/or RWD characteristics. I consider myself a decent driver and really want to know my car and how it reacts to different circumstance...I pick my spots to do this and generally use VDC most of the time @ a little over 1600 miles.

I think this is a great car that does what a RWD car does at a high level. Sure it would have been nice if it came with wider rubber, but, for me the joy of owning a car like this is the journey of really getting to know it. I'm sometimes amazed at the speed that people mod their cars(not knockin' mods here) and find myself wondering if some are missing the finer nuances of this great machine as is. I know I've still got some exploring to do before I can honestly say I "know" my car...can't help smiling when class is in session:>)

As said, 215/55R17 is a lousy tire size for selection of performance rubber. 235/50R17 is a good alternative size theoretically, and the selection available is better, but still not stellar. You can go with a 225/55R17, and the speedometer will be off by about 1mph at 60 (not that big a deal), and there are much better choices for all-out performance summer rubber, such as Bridgestone Potenza S-03 Pole Position or Goodyear Eagle F1 GS-D3.

Re: Sedan Oversteer

you say youre learning the car with the VCD on? I hardly think that's learning the car, its learning how the computer algorithm will be intrusive and shut down the cars natural way of pitch and yaw. Top really learn the car, what it will do...how it will react in a purely physics type way, id say the VDC would have to be off. Ive learned more about the car, and my competancy as a driver with the VDC off than with it on

Re: Sedan Oversteer

would the 235/50 17 pilot sport AS provide more grip then my stock summer 215/55 17 GS-D ?

OMG, yeah. NIght and Day. I have owned those tires in that size before and they are absolutely beautiful. Anything with 235 will give you mo betta handling than the 215's. Don't get me wrong, the GS-D's can handle well but throw on any 235/50 and you will be amazed. Then throw on the Pilot Sport A/S's--wow

But to get really serious rubber in a size that befits this car you need wider wheels, 17x8 or 17x9 or plus size diameter

Agreed! No comparison with the GoodYears! Even if the G-Ys were the same size as the Pilot Sport A/Ss, the Pilots would feel waaaay better on dry and wet roads. They're actually pretty good on snow and ice as well!
