04 sedan trunk cooler than 07

Here’s an odd one - but important to me... I have an 07 loaner going on 5 days now... I already knew the majority of 07 vs 04 differences because I test drove when it first came out... since having the loaner there are a few additional things I've realized... but the one that is the oddest is trunk temp~

I am a water fiend! I always have several bottles of water in my trunk. In my car even if it's 90+ outside the water is still reasonable cool (more like tepid to room temp-ish. definitely drinkable)... of course if it’s in the car it’s too hot to drink. Well since I've had the loaner for several days, I have a few bottles of water in the 07 trunk. I got one out today (ambient temps in the 90s) the bottle was HOT!!! Just as it would be if I kept it in the car (way too hot to drink!).

Maybe it means nothing to anyone else but I thought it was interesting that the previous model (at least mine) is insulated or something different. For me it's makes a difference since I drink so much water.

Weird, but interesting (to me).

I don't seem to experience anything getting hot in the trunk, however I can't compare it to the earlier G's because I didn't own one then.

Interesting info. I haven't noticed any difference between the trunk in my 03 and the trunk in my 07..............mind you the only thing that usually goes in my trunk is my golf clubs.

Definitely an interesting find.

Well at least the old school owners here have something to hang our hats on to. Maybe I'll start keeping the Nova out in my trunk this summer... "Gee honey, what have you been doing in your car?"

you dont need to buy the new avenger... the old TL did the same thing. when you run your AC it cools your drink. or heat. I had a 01 TL.

I thought about that but mine is DG and the loaner is silver...

To the guy that said old schoolers have something to hang their hat on... the thread isn’t about hey look what I found better on an 04 than 07. I thought I made that pretty clear the way I wrote the post... In fact there are many things I like better about the 04 - but there are also many things I like about the 07... It wasn't a review of the car or differences between them.

My car has been paid for since April of 05… if any of the three years since 04 were that much better I would have made the switch long ago. I would definitely consider the 07 if I was in the market from scratch… but not worth changing for. Now when the 3.7 comes out – might sing a different tune…

Edit: I should add, my car is modded quite a bit too... if it were bone stock I'd weigh heavily more in favor of 07 (I'm more into performance than frills though)... the only frill I care about is my cold water I would love that cup holder cooler!!!! Someone make the mod!

Edit again!: Six Five - I didn't realize it was you that made the comment about hanging our hat on something - I was reading 'em so quickly I thought it was an 07 owner thinking I was trying to say our trunk is better nanny nanny... oh well... sorry bro I misinterpreted it.
