Yes I much prefer a dial for things like volume too.

Honestly I like the smooth no dial center console. Everything looks integrated with no sloppy dials sticking out

if no dial to keep things smooth, how about a little turning wheel, like the ones on the old ipods....
you get the look of the button but the functionality of the dial...

I also auto the heat/ac, rear view dimmer, stereo controls on the steering wheel, hit one button to heat my butt in the morning and that's it, just drive! I have no problems with the control placements either.

I now find myself looking for buttons on the mini-van's steering wheel whenever I drive it. I miss my radio/volume controls.

Air is "smart" so i don't adjust that much.
