Intermittent vibration?
Intermittent vibration?
ok guys. I was driving on the highway and when I shifted into 6th gear under acceleration, my car started vibrating. Felt like a balancing issue, so i assumed one of my wheel weights fell off. I drove home, shut the car off. But I could not find anything. A few hours later, back in my car, and everything drove fine. No problems. Got back on the highway, everything was fine for about 20 minutes and then the same vibration came back. Again, this lasted and was in any gear, and noticeable at any speeds greater than 35-40mph. Well, shut the car off for half an hour got back in, went for another ride and it didnt come back yet. I have a feeling it will come back, but any ideas as to what is going on? It only happened when I shifted into 6th gear, but then stayed with the car in any gear until I shut the car off.
Thanks guys. Oh and car is pretty much brand new. only 3000 miles on it.

Vibration
This vibration comes on suddenly, then stay with the car during accelration, coasting and braking. It does seem to speed up as rpms rise. What I cannot figure out is if it is worsening due to actual speed or simply a rise in rpms in any gear. To me, it feels as if it has more to do with vehicle speed then simply rpms. And when I do shut the car off, and try it again, it is completely gone until it seems that something sets it off without warning. Almost reminds me of a coilpack failure in my old a4. However i dont feel any loss of power. I feel the shaking in the whole car. It is not isolated to the steering wheel. And I cannot tell whether its the engine or tranny or something else in the driveline.
Very peculiar, have u taken/talked to the dealer's svc dept yet?
I've heard that some of the flywheels a while back cause vibrations due to inconsistent manufacturing, but I haven't heard of that recently.
I also had an incedent like that when my car was new and turned out being something really simple like a loose plug/ignition/dist wire or something like that. It was pretty harsh and did seem to go away after shutting off, but I believe you will lose power with something like that. When I took it to the dealer they got misfire code and went under the hood pushed a wire back in until it made a 'click' sound. Problem solved. I doesn't sound like that's what you've got tho, but it doesn't hurt to check that off ur list....process of elimination.
Is it possible you got some REALLY bad gas?
G/L keep us posted.....

bad gas..
Yeah, i guess its possible. I only use 93, but have had some 91 in the car when I first got it. I will check all the wires and everything. I'm thinking this is the most likely cause of it. The more I think about it, i didn't really get on the car to see if there was a loss of power. It seemed to accelerate fine.
I will check everything out and get back to you guys. And it didnt happen to me at all today. So who knows what gremlins i have.
