Rear ended! Advice needed...

Ok, I was rear ended in a very low speed collision today by a joker in a work van.

I don't see MUCH damage, just a couple of bumps and bruises on the bumper, but the jolt was hard enough to throw me forward a bit and it feels like a bracket or something under my seat broke (seat is wobbly).

I have an appointment to have my car looked at by a collision guy (known him for years). Is there anything SPECIFIC I shoul dhave him look at as far as damage goes? I know he knows his craft well, but I'd like to be sure that nothing gets missed.

Deductible is $400. I am hoping the damage is less.

Thanks for your help.

if yo got rear ended, you shouldnt worry about your deductibles.
Just file a claim with the other insurance company and most reputable shops should be able to figure out whats wrong with the seat.

You are right. Not too worried about that (his insurance company already called me to straighten it out).

I just want to be sure no stone goes unturned. As in find out if anyone has been rear ended and had specific damage to look for.

Collision shops should know what to check as far as structural damage, loose/bent body panels etc. but in your case make sure you show them the seat and document that something happened to it. Maybe you came slightly off track or a screw is bent.

The autobody shop will probably need to take it apart to really see the damage and then order the parts so you might be without your G for a while.

Hope you have another car or the insurance company pays for a rental.

My collision guy is awesome. Should be about $1100 total to fix bumper cover and seat.

Yes, no G for a little while. Insurance DOES cover a loaner which is cool. I'll also be enjoying the summer sun in t-top style by pullign the 76 Stingray out of the garage...

I just wish other people would drive as carefully as I do. I drive a fast *** car and am responsible as hell. Because thsi guy dropped his donut (*or whatver else caused his lapse of skill), his van gets another dent added to the collection and my pristine car gets to be added to a carfax list.

Glad it's working out okay, I'd love to be driving a 76 Stingray for the summer but I know what a hassle these things are, I've been through it a few times and always stresses me out until it's over. The last time I had a car down for a while I borrowed a 72 TR6 roadster for a month, slow car but fun as hell to drive.
