Thats it I've had it!

My exhaust is useless

I have Fast Intentions HF Cats, 05 midpipe and HKS Rear muffler

and it all counts for NOTHING!

every exhaust piece I have added has only made my G slower.

so not only is my car loud. raspy and embarrasing, its slower than a 5.5 gen maxima (which is what I found out just last night)

im returning everything back to stock. Im assuming the ECU has just gone crazy and has retarded my timing. Im not gonna fork over another G to tune this stupid ECU, its a dam money pit and its only gonna stop if I quit now.

If you are not happy, go back to what you like.

You're obviously not happy with that set-up so go with what will make you happy.

An exhaust alone will do nothing but make noise... instead, try a spacer, work on your suspension... you'll be happier.

400 bucks for hf cats, 300 for plenum and 200 for intake = slower than 5.5 gen maxima + 16mpg + loud as hell = driver pissed off

Also, the more you build your car whether with bolt-ons or rebuilding the motor, the more you are losing bottom end and gaining top end (most of the time). So the gains you feel and use will depend on when you (or your tranny) are shifting.

I too went through different variations of a put together exhaust as well. Coupe middy, HKS rear, Crawford CATs, Megan Racing Y pipe.

I lost a considerably noticable amount of bottom end when I put the Y pipe on and got an annoying rasp (due to 3 inch outlet dumping into a 2.5 inch inlet)..got ride of the Y. CATs gave me a gain on both top and bottom end. (more noticable on top end) but basically only on the top end since I coupled them with the Y. I also had a small rasp from time to time with those as well and I even got all new gaskets from the header outlets all the way out the back.

Sold the CATs and now have whats left.

I don't think your rasp will go away with new gaskets but it's worth a try I guess. The gaskets on the top side of the CATs are the most expensive. The rest are fairly inexpensive.

I am now opting for a full cat back system and will most likely be done with exhaust from there.

I feel your pain Neal as I went through the same. In the end, all these aftermarket exhaust parts don't always match up.

Try just the middy and the HKS, reset the ECU and drive it like you stole it so the ECU learns the new flow patterns.

Good luck

I don't understand why everyone wants to reset the ECU... it'll retune itself to your new mods automatically whether you reset it or not.
