So just got my first G35 Sedan w/ navi and 6MT. It's an 03 w/ 59k miles on it.
1. Does anybody know if I have any bumper to bumper warranty left on the car? ( The interion mirror lights + plus passanger lights + map lights arnt working, I checked the fuses and the bulbs and they seem to be fine), is their any setup maybe in the navi to turn them on or something?

2. Anybody recommends any maintnance on a G35 at 60k miles? I did the basic stuff like brakes, oil, etc. (what the best motor oil for an 03 G35?)

3. The engine seems to be making a ratteling noise for a 1-2 seconds when starting, is that normal?

1. Bumper to bumper coverage is 48 months or 60,000 miles. Since many 03 models were sold in 2002, you will need to go into a dealer to find out when it first went into service.

2. 60k service in the owners manual shows:
oil and air filter
inspect evap and fuel lines
inspect drive belts (I replaced mine)
replace engine coolant
inspect brake lines, pads and rotors
inspect tranny fluid and diff
inspect suspension
inspect exhaust
replace in cabin filter (have fun with this one)

This service runs about $500 at the Infiniti dealer and about $300 at a Nissan dealer.

For oil, 5/30 is what the mfg recommends. All brands perform well. Doesn't matter which one you use as long as they say SAE on the bottle.

My 03 is also a bit unrefined for the first second or so of start-up.

Whats up Steve! Congrats on the new purchase my friend and welcome to the community. The interior lights happened to me too and it was really a freaky G35 thing as no fuses were out. What I did was I unplugged my battery terminals for 20 minutes and plugged it back in and guess what? IT WORKED!!! A lot of members also have problems with the rattling noise coming from the engine upon start up (especially in cold weather). Some have said and I quote, "It's caused by a little slack in the timing chains before the tensioners pump up with oil." I also have the same problem and dealers can't do nothing about it. They will tell you that it is "normal" but it's worth a try I guess. Good luck!

 

Congratulations on the car. My 03 just hit 60k recently so i swapped it out onto a 350z suspension, changed out belts, oil, spark plugs and filter. Have yet to replace all the lines, and i desperatly need to do my rotors. I alraedy changed out the pads.
