Temperature/AC Display
Temperature/AC Display
Lately, I have noticed sometimes when I first start my car, once it's already been running, the "outside" temp reading is a lot higher than it actually is, comes down once it runs for a bit, how does this read the outside temp, is this weird, or normal?

Re: Temperature/AC Display
Totally normal - the temp sensor is close enough to the engine, and all that heat warms the area around the sensor. So when you first start your car, the ambient temperature at the sensor is higher than the real temperature. Once you drive a few miles, that warmer air is disbursed and you get a much more accurate reading.

Hey, thank you, that is kind of what I thought, this is the first car I've had with a display like that!

Oh, thanks, I had planned on asking about it when I go in for my first oil change, guess I still will!

Not lately ... try always mine is hotter than the outside temp in the summer time too.... Is this really a problem? I figured it was the heat from the engine ...
Just wondering why I should request the TSB

Re: Temperature/AC Display
mine does the same thing for a few minutes until the car gets moving. it doesn't matter much to me now in the winter cause i'm not using the autocontrol. but in the summer if it shows up either a lot hotter or cooler than it really is it will affect the fan speed and a/c air temp and could either freeze you out or not cool down fast enough. i'll just wait and see what happens.
plus manual control is all i've ever had in the past and i've survived to this point just fine.
