05 Keyless Start to 06 Pushbutton?
#17
If you still need to use a key, or turn the ****, then what's the point? Just turn it the extra 20 degrees and start the engine?
The 07+ system is too sophisticated to retrofit because you need to still to have the steering wheel unlock and rewire so you can have an ACC or ON mode for powering the car without starting.
Most, if not all aftermarket push-button starts still require the factory ignition to be retained, which kinda defeats the purpose because you still need the key. So you stick the key in, turn to "ON" and then start. After doing this a few hundred times, you start to get lazy and just turn the key. trust me, i know as i bought a Mustang with one of these setups once. It came off quickly.
I've had push-button on my '07 Lexus, and my '06 has the I-key "****". Once you deal with real keyless ignition systems, the aftermarket stuff is just "wannabe" really.
