That happened to me, only it was an interior nut that had come off the valve stem. There were two nuts on valve stem inside the tire, the outer one came loose and dropped into the wheel. Its definitely the Axle , get them regreased i had the the exact same problem but 2 dealers wouldnt warranty because i have a modded suspension , it cost me 150.00 to get both sides done , It fixed the problem .

complained and complained to the service dude and he got fed up so he changed my axel anyway to get me to shut up.
when i did my rare interior clean up, i found a dime under the driver sit, it was under the floor covering and banging against the metal floor frame.
it appeared that was the source of my metalic clicking.
moral of this story is, do an interior clean up, lots of things fall to the right on the driver sit.
complained and complained to the service dude and he got fed up so he changed my axel anyway to get me to shut up.
when i did my rare interior clean up, i found a dime under the driver sit, it was under the floor covering and banging against the metal floor frame.
