G35 Sedan 6MT - 4.5 Years of Bliss
Hello all! I've been lurking (and selectively sneaking a few posts in
) since Feb. 2003. This forum has been a great source of information, inspiration, and the occasional comedic stories.
I've been on a quest for a sporty 2 door replacement for my beloved 6MT. I wanted something that captured everything the G had: acceleration, handling, comfort, and more importantly personality.
The quest for a new car
I bought a base 2003.5 Sedan 6MT w/ Sport Package when they were first starting to be offered in stick early in 2003. Over the years the only problem I encountered was that the CD changer stopped working and had to be replaced under warranty... thats it. It's been a fantastic ride and replacing / upgrading this car took 3 months, a ton of test drives, and hours reading on the forums.
Here she is, 55 months later, very early this morning, all washed up and ready to go.

And here's its replacement, hours later, with 26 miles on the odometer.

How did I do? I simply hope that the 335i will be just as reliable, fun, and have enough character to compare to the G. Even though I'm still in the "honeymoon period" of owning a new car, I still miss the G and all the fun, "spirited runs", and memories.
Take care!

I think you did really well I personally think the 335i is a better looking car than the new G35 coupe coming this August and the resale will be better as well. Good luck and nice ride!

That G looks exactly like mine (minus my lip spoiler), and I never grow tired of the look....Glad it gave you so many pleasant trouble-free years. I'm hoping mine will do the same for me...
The 335's are the best choice for an upgrade IMO. How much did you get for the G if I may ask? I'm not considering a BMW as I already have a 2-wheeled one and that is enough to keep me busy. Just wondering what the market is saying for the 1st gen sedans at the moment.
Nice ride. I'd love to get a 335 sedan. Just watch that oil temps. There is a major concern about the oil temp levels in the new BMW turbo cars. BMW just recently added oil coolers to combat the problem, but you had better make sure yours was one of them. Excessive oil temps can spell disaster for the turbos.
Hey, thanks for all the comments!
DaveB: Yeah, I'm very glad that the 335i's with the Sport Package come with the added oil cooler in the front right wheel well. It was 94F here today, I drove around with the AC on for an hour or so; it stayed around 230 degrees.
ballisticus: I had the G on the market for the 6 weeks that the 335 was on order. A few bites but many people wanted to low ball me. I ended up trading it in (i know, the horror) but got very good money for a trade in, $15,100.
Jeff92se: Haha! The 335 is a lease
I'm not much into mods... although that Procede is tempting. Maybe when there is a rev. 2?
perry05G35: I actually love the look of the new G37. If only it were out a bit sooner. From what the dealers near me have said, it sounds like it will be very difficult to grab before the end of the year.
