Yes the brakes on the newer ones are better but I got a BBK anyway. IMO the nismo front end looks better than the 05/06. I also like the interior on the earlier ones better.
Yeah i also think an 03-04 is better, especially the headlights,

thanks for all the replies. i'll have to look into the brakes a bit more though. if anything its an excuse to get a big brake kit? haha

but yeah, i get the altima back in a week or two, and its getting boring. i had all the basic bolt ons (i/h/e), suspension mods, and was pretty much done w\ the car. i have a 2.5 too, so aftermarket avaliability is pretty weak. i'm hoping to get rid of it by the end of july and hopefully have the G by the end of august

again, thanks for the responses i really appreciate it

I'd say get it.. i went form an '03 z to a 2004 g sedan and i'm very happy.. I love the interior, performance and smooth ride.. gas mileage SUX though. it has 45 k miles and runs like new. I don't like the doggy dog on the 2003, if you get a 2003 or 2004 you will definately want to consider the nismo body kit - makes it look more like a 2005-2006 (wayy better frnt bumper and side skirts and rear) brakes are NOT an issue.. just get hawks hps break pads and u're str8. you'd probabably want to do that with ANY car you got anyways. if you like upgrading the stereo ( which i do ) its a task with the car, you need a kit that has ac controller and costs like 300 or so. and don't worry about the flames for searching.. I know how hard it is to search this forum .. I'll be happy to answer any questions you have

The '04 IMO is the sexiest G (from the outside)to date.I like the '07 interior way more than '04.I don't like the Camary style headlights on the '07.And brakes are an issue on the 03-04.I just changed mine and had them put on the Maxima brakes, much better than OEM.

back then, i also swiched from an 02 2.5sl altima to an 03 G; couldn't be happier.

only problems so far in the past years were the brakes and wipers.

I love my 03. I have switched out a few part (see sig) but the reliability has been great. I like the interior better than the 05-06.

Front brake pads at 37500, still on original rear brakes.

Battery only lasted 3 years, 9 months.

Driver's seat can make a noise.

Few chips in windshield and scratches in paint.

Still on original tires at 40K. Though I may replace them before another winter.

Essentially, wear items.

Tell me about these Maxima brakes. Did you just swap rotors and pads, or calipers too? Are the rotors the same size and everything? What's different about the Maxima pieces?

Apparently not to much.Except price, like $280 less than Infiniti dealer.(cdn).
They look excactly the the same.I had rotors( same size 13"),calipers and pads replaced(rear are still good.) A service manager at a Nissan dealership swore they were the excact same as a high end Maxima.
I don't know if it's phsycological or what, but I swear they feel smoother and with the same muscle when you need it.

Quote: Hey whatsup,

my name is DJ & I am a 2005 nissan altima owner who was recently in a big accident and my altima might be totaled. so the g35 sedan is at the top of my list to replace my altima.

I don't own one yet, but am considering getting an 03-04 sedan and was wondering if there were any major recalls/common problems/reliability issues/etc. that I should be aware of.

Please don't flame me for not using the search button! I come from the nissanclub/altimas.net forums, and the search option is different and i'm not used to the way it is on g35driver yet! haha

any answers/responses would be appreciated! thanks alot guys

There is always a debate about what year is better... considering you are interested (supposedly) in a G35 between 03-04... you might find the research I used (for my decision) beneficial. I don’t know if post 04 Gs have these critical acclaims – and I don’t care. But this should help your decision-making.

If you are still curious as to the "reliability" or "owner satisfaction"... I suggest you "safely" (as to avoid another accident) look around on the roads and take note of all the G sedans.

It’s very apparent where I live.

thanks for the links

yeah the accident was total bs..i was driving to class in the morning, this dog comes out of nowhere and i almost run over it, ended swerving to avoid it, and before i knew it, i hit this cement ledge. air bags and everything

some of my friends and ppl on the other forums said i should have killed the dog, but honestly i'm too much of a nice guy to do that (i love my dog as well)..

no real problems edxcept brakes on 04
I haven't had any real issues on my 04 except the brakes wearing out prematurely - just got hawk pads and rotors on the front so I hope this helps. I like the styling of the interior and exterior of the 03-4 vs the 05s - though I like the 05 seats better. My seats are OK but not great. The 05 seats are better but not bmw level quality/comfort IMHO.

Other than the brakes my car squeaks a bit but lubing the suspension gets rid of it.

Awesome car!
