2003-2004 sedan reliability/issues/etc.

Hey whatsup,

my name is DJ & I am a 2005 nissan altima owner who was recently in a big accident and my altima might be totaled. so the g35 sedan is at the top of my list to replace my altima.

I don't own one yet, but am considering getting an 03-04 sedan and was wondering if there were any major recalls/common problems/reliability issues/etc. that I should be aware of.

Please don't flame me for not using the search button! I come from the nissanclub/altimas.net forums, and the search option is different and i'm not used to the way it is on g35driver yet! haha

any answers/responses would be appreciated! thanks alot guys

-dj

please search. i have seen this question posed at least ten times. just try the advanced search function or search a specific forum.

if you are looking to buy a G, then you'll have to learn how to use the search function anyhow. now's as good a time as any!

Quick news: the 2003-2004 had a bunch of issues that were fixed in later years. Get the latest model you can afford.

Back on topic, the most prominent issue/recall with the '03 G35 sedan is with the fuel filler hose and the possibility of the part coming loose when filling up or when the vehicle is in motion. All Infiniti dealers are aware of the recall and will replace the necessary part(s) free of charge.

I think they should improve the search engine here, especially for them two-letter abbreviations. Maybe similar to ebay's search engine, not that i shop for stickers, LED windshield washers, turbonators or anything like that..

Often, many people suffer 1st and 2nd degree burns

I would at least go for an 05 model. Better styling and interior.

I have an 04--it's been trouble free. Have another friend with an 03 that he bought when they first came out. Other than the brakes (notoriously bad oem), his has been trouble-free too. My warranty runs out in October and I won't be extending, because I think in the next 3-4 years, my repair costs will most likely be less than the $2000 warranty. I'd suggest just buying the one you can most afford to, as long as the mileage is decently low and it's in good shape. Good luck.

I love my 04.

Yes the brakes on the newer ones are better but I got a BBK anyway. IMO the nismo front end looks better than the 05/06. I also like the interior on the earlier ones better.

I like my 03 and had no problems so far. I like the interior of the 03 better then the 05/06
