parked in a garage....got calcium all over my car...

well, I park my 2005 g in a garage and apparently some pipe broke and now my car has a bunch of filmy white stuff on it. garage owners said it's "calcium deposits" and they will be using lime away to wash it off and will then wax/buff it to a shape that will be as good as new, they have a car washing service in the garage.
I'm a lil worried that this isn't gonna work....the "calcium" is on pretty thick, so it'll definately take some kinda buffing action to take it off, but is lime away good for the paint?

I'm considering going to Phil in the bay area to take care of this and see what he can do. but not sure if/how much garage will cover if they aren't taking care of it.

What do you guys think?

No one touches my car. Period. No one on the face of the earth has as much regard for my possessions as I do - this I've learned over the years..

When I got my brand new (bright white) pick-up undercoated a few years back (2004), they got overspray all over the paint. I made them pay for the materials required to clean and refinish the paint and I did all the work myself. The alternative was some kid with a buffer in the back of the undercoating shop. They were 'professional detailers', but the attention to detail while undercoating my truck did nothing to inspire confidence.

It came out flawlessly, and I don't regret having to do the work myself one bit.

I would hold off on the Lime Away as a last resort. I would start with some household vinegar (a much weaker acid), then use car wax.

Only if that doesn't work, then dilute some Lime Away 1:2, use it very sparingly, and wash it off quickly with lots of water.

A local garage settled a bunch of claims before figuring out it would come off with vinegar and not damage the paint. I haven't tried it myself but sure seems a lot safer than going straight to the Lime-Away.

I had the same thing happen to my G. Ate right through the Zaino.

Claying did next to nothing. You will need a cleaner polish. I chose Zaino All In One which did the trick wonderfully. It will take a couple tries, but you will see it come up.

I would not let them touch your car.

Find a pro detailer (a real detailer) and have them pay for it, or read up and DIY.

yeah, I was gonna take it to my normal guy and see what he could do. Phil from ads mobile, he's always done good work, so I'm confident. problem is, he said its gonna cost 200-300 bucks and after talking to the garage, they said that they aren't gonna pay anything and I should talk to my insurance. are garages not liable for this type of thing??
Thanks again.
