G35 Vs. TL

I have been furiously comparing the Acua TL to the G35 Sedan.

Has anyone done this as well?

Any input or suggestions?

-John

Re: G35 Vs. TL

Comparing performance, comparing packages?
As far as performance - Hondas and Acuras the low-end was always inferior (except NSX) to Nissan/Infiniti and only aftermarket resolved this. That is a major reason true enthusiasts were dissapointed with new TL 238 # or torque.
Others will wait to see if Acura release Type S in a future.

Follow those advice and then you will be happy of owning a G35. Looks better, more power, true power on rear wheels... Do research and you will be happy

Re: G35 Vs. TL

Hell, I'd be furious as to why I was even comparing the two, but that's just me.

My best advice is to test drive both and see which one fits your needs better.

From what I've read the TL has better interior but weaker engine and FWD.

The G has tres ***** and a worse interior (depending on who you ask), but can be had in AWD or RWD. I'm perfectly happy with the G's interior as I'm upgrading from a 98 Eclipse Spyder GS convertible.

Drive em and let your gut decide.

Re: G35 Vs. TL

I haven't driven the TL but can tell you that based on looks alone, I choose the TL. But, I wouldn't spend more $$$ on a FWD car for reasons of performance, control, and just bang for the buck. Service/Sales-wise, I've owned an Acura before and compared to Infiniti (at least in Hawaii), no comparison. Acura sales/service people are a bunch of a$$holes.
Getting back to the cars, I agree with Coraanu, the decision lies in your hands. You're going to be driving it, not us.

Re: G35 Vs. TL

I just rode in my friend's brand new TL, and I have to admit that it's very nice. The interior is a step up from the G, although I am more than happy with the interior of my G. The TL comes with better size tires, too. Overall, though, as others have said, it comes down to your preferences. The G is more of a performance oriented sport sedan. The TL has good hp numbers, and seems to handle pretty well for a fwd car, but it doesn't have the balance that you get in a the G. If luxury appointments do it for you, then the TL might be the way to go. Again, what is it that you're looking for?

Re: G35 Vs. TL

Shader7, good link. It's great to see what our competition is saying.

It reminded me of this month's Car & Driver article on the TL. The article was supposed to be about the TL, but inevitably, it made the G35 shine.

The hardcopy of the mag has comparo charts (Acura TL, Infiniti G35, Audi A4 3.0, and BMW 330) not found in the online version of the article, and the G35 is the leader in 4 out of 5 of the categories. In gas mileage, the G35 placed 3rd in the group, but in the rest--Price, Acceleration, Handling, and Braking--the G35 was #1.

Re: G35 Vs. TL

How about the new TL vs the G35, not the old one link:

http://www.acura-tl.com/forum/showth...threadid=69685

Also seems to be a more GROWN up discussion at this link.

For one, they both are just as quick, one has a better interior and looks, the other has only one thing better, RWD.

Eh, looks are one of those subjective things. I have to say I'm really not a fan of the TL's styling... the Gs just still turns me on from almost every angle.

Re: G35 Vs. TL

I second that!!! I drove the TL and was not impressed, the best thing is the Navi. I think the styling on the TL is not nearly as classy as the G. It's a nice car i just think the G is better. As for the interior also not as classy seemed to me to be a bit tacky. And im not a fan of those lines down the side, i think the best angle of the TL is the rear.

Re: G35 Vs. TL

I've been lurking around both forums (along w/FA and acuraworld) for a couple of months now and I just couldn't pass this one up...

The TL forums people thinks their 3rd gen TL is the greatest thing since slice bread!!! "GROWN UP", I don't think so...Uhhh, no your new TL does NOT compare to the BMW 535 or Audi A8. I have to say, I considered the new TL, but just can get over the torque steer and the 'Civic' like styling. Like many other people, the only thing that I like about the TL is the interior...
