2004 G35 Sedan - Brakes and Labor?

Apologize in advance for not knowing much about cars, but I'm here to learn.

1. Is it ok to replace my OEM front brake pads with Hawk HPS and leave the rear's on the same OEM pads (the rears are fine)?
2. If the mechanic tells me I need to resurface or replace my rotors, which rotors should I use with the Hawk pads, and can you just replace the front and not the rear?
3. Anyone recommend a good cheap shop to have this done in the Dallas area?

Thanks!

racingbrake.com has some nice oem sized rotors that go well with hawks hps pads.

Here's a DIY: https://g35driver.com/forums/showthr...ighlight=brake

1. yes
2. I went with R1 rotors , yes you can
3. Do it yourself its not that hard all you need is a few sockets and maybe a rubber mallet to break the rotor free. You will also need a open end wrench. Its really easy to do even at a condo.

I called one of my buddies who used to work at Nissan corporate and he tells me that the Hawks wont really reduce the dust - and that I should install the Brembo brake kit from the '05s. I didn't realize that this fit the 04.

I also remember the Infiniti dealership in Dallas told me that I couldnt upgrade to brembros unless I wanted to change my wheels.

Which is true? Also, should I use ceramic pads?

I just did my first brake job on the G. replaced OEM with Hawks. was very easy for someone who is mechanically-stupid. took me about 1 hour more than the average mechanic bu was very satisfied with my monumental accomplishment.

The hawks did reduce the brake dust by a gazillion times. I used to have to wash my wheels every 2-3rd day depending on the driving. I now only have to do this once a week.

I have to replace the backs now. i did buy all hawk pads(f&B) but went with E-bay rotors because I am unemployed at this time.

You could get EB greenstuff pads also. I heard those were good pads that dont put off much dust. Although I have never used them Im still on stock pads with slotted and drilled rotors.

A buddy and I replaced my front and rear pads. Took about an hour since we had to do one at a time. If you've never done it before, it might take longer, but with each wheel, it gets faster. As for the break dust, I noticed a significiant reduction in dust. With OEM, my black car looked like it had black wheels, but with the HAWKS (front and rear), i my breaks look like they have a little film of rust. Hardly noticiable unless the car is standing still. I completely recommend using the HAWKS HPS.
