Ok Ok not brand new but got a 2003 Automatic G Sedan with the doggy door. I'm coming from a long line of pocket rockets...Eclipse GST, WRX and Mazdaspeed Protege but decided to get something whose turbo wouldnt explode(happened on my WRX and Mazdaspeed) as a fast daily driver.

I've searched the forums and came upon some answers but I would like some opinions/answers on a few issues...

1. How does a 2003 G35 Sedan(doggy door) compare overall performance wise to A) RSX-S B)Scion TC C) 07 Civic Si? My buddies tell me that my car is slower than them all...lol

2. Is my car significantly slower than a 03-06 coupe?

3. Are doggy door 03 Sedans slower than the non doggy door sedans?

4. What will take my 03 auto sedan to dip into the 13's 1/4 mile?

1. Straight line performance the G35 will be quicker and faster than those. In the twisties those light cars handle well even though they have less power. The RSX may come close to the G on a track...you need to quantify what you mean by "slower".
2. Not significantly, but it would be noticeable. i.e. ~1/2 sec to 60mph and a few mph in the 1/4. Unless it's a 6 speed coupe then the gap may be a bit more.
3. All the doggy door refers to is the style of trunklid, no engine difference.
4. $ and research. Lots of guys on here are in the 13's so it's not a major mod project.

welcome. i thinck the g is quick i dust acuras every time. plenum spacer air filter and exhaust will improve performance

 

What exactly is a doggy door?? Excuse me if it seems like a stupid question but until recently i was only considering purchasing a coupe so i didn't pay much attention to the sedan

 

Luxury & power, great combo baby. Doesn't get any better.

 

The '03 sedans have the "doggy door" on the trunk (rectangular panel), the '03.5 and newer don't.

 

Colour? Post some pics! And welcome to the exclusive doggy door club. Lotsa people on here hate 'em but i agree with 03sG35, it gives the car some character and uniqueness.

First mods you should look into are a plenum spacer and sway bars/springs.

 

Are the plenum spacers worth the money? I have one on my Evolution, but it is between my cylinder head and intake manifold.

I guess thats what u get when get a "more expensive, upscale car"...

One more thing...how much horsepower does my car have stock...260, 270 or 280..what?? Please please answer this. thanx

 

The 2003 G35 is rated at 260 HP from the factory.

 

Anyone have any idea if there are any issues with switching out my 03 doggy door trunk lid to a 03.5??

It should bolt right up shouldn't it??
