Optima Red Top Battery 35
For all those that have the Optima red top 35 in their 03-06 sedans, does it fit in right? I have searched but haven't found a solid answer. People say that the post are on the correct side but I went to Autozone to buy it and the post a not on the correct side. I've seen someone reverse the battery to make it fit. Do you have to extend the wires?

Yeah for some reason when I go to autozone and ask for the red top model 35 they brought it out not with the reverse port.
Gdup35sedan there isn't a 35R but I went on online and bought the 34r with the reverse port. I was told on another trend that they don't make it anymore but I found a place that was still carrying it. Thanks for the quick response guys.

"Group 35" batteries are commonly used by European vehicles. The standard calls for reversed terminals. "35R" does not technically exist because it is already reversed.
I have the Optima Red Top 35 and it fits generally okay. The unit is fractionally smaller than the oem unit. It is also not as tall, I had to use an adapter underneath to raise it far enough for the claps to work properly.
You can get the Optima group 35 batteries here:

They come in either Red Top (35) or Yellow Top (D35).

I put in a 34r last wedsday night and it fit fine. You need to use the spacer it comes with to get it tall enough for a headache free install. It is quite easy to do and there are no fitment issues I saw. Good Luck!!
how does 160 shipped sound to you guys for Optima 34R? How much did you pay Tim?
this is the 2 sites I found they seem to be the lowest. IT goes anywhere from $160-$200

Also, someone educate me on the difference between Red top and Yellow top. Is the Red top good for starter, ignition, lighting while the yellow top is good for overall performance? Both are deep cycle right?
