Re: Roll call - who here is driving a G35x?

I've had my G35x for almost two months and put it through its paces in the snow at Lake Tahoe, the main ski area in California. The performance in snow has been great, including the test of playing with it in an empty parking lot covered with 6 or 8 inches of snow to see how it would fishtail and then straighten itself out. Of course, I drive very differently in the snow than at home; imitating the action of the snow switch in the G; slow starts and stops.

I'm comparing the performance above to my wife's Subaru Forester, which used to be the vehicle of choice for snowy roads. The AWD Forester can also go 80 MPH uphill, but you may get tired waiting for this to happen!

The only problem I had in the snow was when it snowed two feet in a day at a ski resort and the snow was higher than the bumper. It's not a snow plow. I had to dig out with a plastic scraper, which took about an hour.

When the car is in RWD is power going to both back wheels or just one. Does the car have a limitied-slip differential?

No matter the ATTESA mode, neither diff (front or rear) is limited slip. Both diff's are open. You'd think at least the rear would be, oh well bean counter's won.

Just saw a black X today in Berkeley Heights, NJ with temp tags still on. This was the first X I've spotted on the road other than my own. Anyone?

Re: Role call - who here is driving a G35x?

Just picked up my X yesterday.
Twilight Blue + Willow Leather + Premium Package + Aero Package + XM Radio.

I have been researching this car for 6 months and finally pulled the trigger. I would like to thank Michael Weitz for providing an excellent purchasing experience AND everyone on this forum for providing insight into this vehicle.

I drove over 300 miles in the X yesterday and it is everything I could have hoped for in a car. Unfortunately, my wife reallllllly likes the car as well.

kjaxxon,

They let you get the aero package on an X? Both of my local dealers in the Twin Cities, MN said the aero package would void the warranty as more snow would build up in the wheel wells. Anyways, they ultimately saved me some change on body kits for engine mods. =]

Coraanu:

If you don't mind me asking where did you buy your G35 and what kind of deal did you get? I have driven a G35x from Bloomington but I won't pull the trigger until this summer if I buy one. I was just wondering what the market was like here in Mpls.

Thanks for any info.

Re: Role call - who here is driving a G35x?

zman3: I was able to get VPP pricing which is about 33,010 for the X with premium package. Final purchase was at Lupient Infiniti. Both dealers had the same price for VPP (I wanted to verify for sure), but Bloomington just rubbed me the wrong way and pressured me into the purchase. I'd recommend talking to Mike Lessner at Lupient. Not sure on non-VPP pricing, sorry!

Coraanu:

Thanks for the info. I'm kind of new to Infiniti's since I am just starting the shopping process. What is VPP pricing? Some type of employee/vendor pricing structure?

Thanks again.

Re: Role call - who here is driving a G35x?

Nobody mentioned anything about the warranty being voided for a dealer option. I will check with Infiniti but it sounds like someone was trying to sell something that they already had in their inventory. I will check on this subject with the dealer where I purchased the car.

I picked mine up this week. Diamond graphite with graphite leather in NJ. Only have about 100 miles on the odometer so far.

Re: Roll call - who here is driving a G35x?

Picked up mine yesterday--of course I love it so far. For me a very timely introduction of the x. I wasn't planning to buy a car right now; just purchased an FX35 in June and my second car--94 Q45 was paid for. But in Dec some guy ran a light and smashed my Q45. Spent a month in the body shop. The week I got it back I skidded on a patch of black ice, did a 180 and then went rear first into a ditch (and sat in my car and watched 4 other cars do the same thing). My Q had 147,000 miles (this was the second one I've owned) and my goal was to reach 250,000. However, after 2 accidents in a month my wife insisted I get rid of it. Though I wasn't looking forward to two car payments, I ran to the dealer to get the G35x (ok I drove--but real fast). I never considered anything else; as you can see I'm an Infiniti guy. Looking forward to interacting with you all on this board...
