Make it sound like a coupe
Make it sound like a coupe
Hey guys, I was wondering what I could do to make my car sound like the coupe. It seemed like the louder engine noise was due to it's exhaust more than the engines. Is there an exhaust or exhaust tips or anything that I can add to my 04 g35x to make it sound like the stock coupe and not too ricey, loud, obnoxious, or annoying?
Coupe Midpipe will give you a more throaty sound ($80-110 used) out back and a Z tube ($60-90 used) will make the intake sound more like a Z.
Take a look in the marketplace here on the forums for people selling those parts.

Many sedan owners have asked this before. Only options to make the car louder & sound better are rear section exhausts (i.e. HKS, Stillen & Borla). I have the HKS & love it...it fits the X as well. It's not the least bit ricey & it's not too loud IMO....pretty quiet cruising on the highway as well. IMO it sounds better than the coupe. Search for the sound clips/vids I posted up.

at the very least the mid-pipe...
Yeah if you get some universal chrome tips you will sound EXACTLY like the coupe.
Get the 05/06 sedan midpipe, from all I've heard and read, its better for us sedaneers, unless of course you have that model

related question i suppose, i've been thinking about getting a straight dual exhaust made, (given the cost of kits that aren't really duals anyways), and i'm trying to think what kinda of mufflers to use, i'm used to the grumble and roar of an american v8, no tinny drone, just smooth and deep, i realize this ain't a v8, but there's a really nice deep tone just off idle that you can hear if you listen closely, and of course the WOT scream is beautiful, but around town it's too quiet, and not authoritative enough to get pedestrians to notice. any suggestions?

That's what the Borla sounds like.
If you want to make your own you are taking a huge risk with drone but I would use a pair of magnaflows.
I am about 99% ready to do the coupe middy swap but could someone be VERY specific about just how much modification needs to be done to make it fit correctly? I mean, in your opinion, do you think that Midas and/or Mieneke will give me much hassle for it or charge me significantly more because of the fitting issues? Thank you for a final answer here!
