VDC and Rain
VDC and Rain
It actually rained today in sunny San Diego. The onramp to the freeway I use when leaving work is a nice straight uphill section. I left work quite late, so there wasn't anybody else on the ramp at the time, so I punched it from a 25mph rolling start. The slip light immediately started blinking at me, and I felt the rear wheels slip briefly, then the car accelerated briskly up the ramp. Slower than normal, but still pretty brisk. The back end wiggled a little like it was trying to come around, but the car kept a straight line with no effort on my part. The slip light didn't go off until I passed 60mph. Then I had to ease off it and become a sane driver again before merging onto the freeway. The traction and stability controls perform quite well. Today was definately a day to keep the fingers away from the VDC Off switch.
When this technology trickles down into the economy cars, maybe San Diego won't suffer the standard surge of traffic accidents every time it sprinkles.

Re: VDC and Rain
I used mine wednesday leaving the bank. I was taking a turn and yes it did let the tail wag but it really did accelerate very quickly. I was in 2nd so I think it wanted to keep us in one peice. It has rained in San Jose for three days and I think we might dry out later today. If not I have got VDC to keep me out of trouble. I am glad to know that on a straight it will allow you to accelerate to some degree
