Rattles & Temperature

Does your Sedan seem to rattle more the colder it gets. I live in SoCal but notice more rattles, squeaks, etc. in the morning or late at night. Perhaps some of you in really cold climates can shel some light on this.

Thanks

Re: Rattles & Temperature

You know, every car I have owned has done that, the G has one that I notice when it's cold, but nothing like the others I have owned! I think it's normal, so long as the rattle isn't there after the sun hits it, I don't really worry about it!

Re: Rattles & Temperature

Yes, temperature makes a BIG difference in my sedan.....since cold weather hit I have developed a nasty rattle in my rear parcel shelf around the Bose ND Woofer. I swear it seems like the woofer speaker cover is actually hitting the rear glass. I am starting to get pissed off with all the "little" problems with this car...they are starting to add up and get on my damn nerves.

GeeSpot,
Don't let "little" things like that get to you, there isn't a car made that doesn't have some "little" things, none are perfect. This car is so much better than any Ford I ever owned in that respect! As far as rattles or squeaks caused by cold weather, that's pretty hard to avoid all the plastic they use now on cars, parts change with the cold, loosen up it seems. I don't see how the woofer cover could be hitting the glas, unless it popped off somehow, there is a small space there.

Same rattles here. I do disagree that a car can not be perfect. Regards to rattles, I'm sure if there is no car that does not rattle, then I could accept that and not have purchased the car. However, I know that not everyone has this problem and that those who have the problem should get it fixed. Not that the dealer won't, but its fustrating to have to GET it fixed. I'm still rattles and I am determined to have it fixed.

Ha ha, From one 'oldphart' to another...lol. Yes the rattles and squeaks come and go with the cold and worsen with a drop in temp. I liken it to the rattle and squeaks in my old bones and don't take much notice anymore.
In the summer when it's nice and warm, the G rides and sounds lovely, and even my rattles and squeaks subside...

PS- you should hear the noises in the G when it's 20 or 30 below...........

Re: Rattles & Temperature

Good analogy...I tend to rattle a little in colder temps also. At 0 or below, it must make quite a bit of noise.

Re: Rattles & Temperature

GeeSpot, Check the TSB's, there is one that is directed at the Rear Deck.

My Sedan is at the dealer as we speak for the foam inserts to fix the door rattle when listening to the radio above 13 and the new seat assebly to fix the moving seat issue.

Re: Rattles & Temperature

I've seen the door rattle thing before, where does it come from? I have a noise coming from the right side, door or dash, not sure yet, I seemed to have just noticed it, had a new windshield put in last week, not sure if it's connected to that either at this point.

Re: Rattles & Temperature

Here are the TSB's that I had worked on yesterday. There were 2 foam door inserts ordered. So far so good.

Radio Related Rattle - ITB02021
Popping noise from the windows - ITB02057
Generic Rattle - ITB03050

I also had the seat assembly replaced for the moving / clicking driver's seat issue stated in ITB02080. That is also fixed.
