I have an 04 6MTC, before I put on my 20" Axis wheels, I did not notice any type of pulling to the right, but once I had my after market wheels installed, the pull was noticeable. Frustrated from this, I took the wheels back to the wheel shop, had him order me 2 brand new tires (Falken BTW) and the pull was still there. I put on my stock 18" wheels and the pull was there, just not as noticable.

Since getting my new wheels, I had 3 alignments done (Hunter alignment machine) and numerous balance on the wheels, and took it to the dealership...no solution yet.

Ya, do you have to remove any plastic covers or the airbag to do this steering wheel fix? I would like to look into this.

Well I visited a reputed wheel shop today and all the techs there were very professional. As far as alignment, all the wheels/tires were fine with no leaks or abnormal tire wear. They even rotated the tires and had the alignment tweaked a bit but the car still pulls marginally to the right. The tech there, Sri, said that I should give the alignment report to Nissan/Infiniti as it is now some suspension adjustment that has to be addressed - something minor which one of their customer 350z encountered.

Let see how helpful Nissan is now esp since this is an aftermarket add-on!

edit: he mentioned the castor could be an issue as well which Nissan can take care off.

btw - I did have this problem when I had my stock 17" wheels and the car is under warranty going in for service every 5k. However, the front right wheel had a small puncture (stock wheel) so that could have been the reason.

but with these 19" Michelin ps2's ive gotten then aligned twice, no abnormal tire wear, no bent rims, balancing is proper, tires rotated, no punctures and it still occurs. Although after todays re-alignment and rotate the front tires to the rear the drifting is less.

Am going in to the dealer tomorrow so will have a word with them.

you have to pull off the airbag and the large nut holding the steering wheel to the column

once you've removed the nut, you can see the alignment marks on the metal frame of the steering wheel and the steering column shaft - they should be lined up straight, as any degree off-center will cause the steering wheel to be askew when driving straight

if the alignment shop verifies that toe in/out and camber/caster of the front suspension are within factory specs, and you're still finding that the car veers in one direction or another when the steering wheel appears straight, the shop didn't center the steering wheel.

the only way to correctly do this without touching the suspension is... to check whether or not the alignment marks on the steering column are in-line with each other

if this does not solve the problem, then it's time to take it to the dealer

before going there though, drive the car on a flat road at about 25-30 mph - make sure that it's driving straight, regardless of how the steering is positioned. if it tracks straight, it may just need the steering wheel aligned. if it doesn't track straight, drive to the dealer instead...

sorry to hear bout your prob. I have an '05 with 49,000 miles and I have not a single prob with pulling. Even after I have lowered it and I have yet to align it and it been one month since the drop. Hope you can figure it out. IMO tires can make a huge diffenece. Try a diff brand when it comes time.

No car shold go OUT of alignment when you hit a bump. If you understand what it takes to align a car you will understand that it just doesn't happen. I know it sure feels like it but all your suspension components are aligned by threaded parts and unless there are wallowed out and jumping threads this can't happen.

I had a proper alignment done, camber/toe corrected and wheels balanced as well.

Since I had this issue with my old tires what could the problem be?
The problem is your "proper alignment" wasn't proper. Take it back and have it redone explaining the problem. You've paid once so it should be done for free. G/L

what is the deal with this ??
There is a TSB on this. You should have taken the car back to have it realigned since it's not right and alignments are free for the first 12 months.

Your girlfriend isn't having a good experience which is a shame. She should take the car somewhere they know what they're doing.

the report above is from the alignment yesterday. they said they cant do anything more to correct it ( i dont want to force them too) and these guys are reputed.

I have given the report to Infiniti dealer here today so lets see if they can point out any errors.

Your alignment looks ok, not great. The toe is very even... remember that when you get in your car, the wheels will toe out, and camber out a bit too (on your side specifically). You do want the SAI to be as even as possible or your car can drift, but I don't think that's adjustable, so that shouldn't be the problem. My guess is it's the camber...
