Alluminum pedals & parking brake
Alluminum pedals & parking brake
I've installed the 5AT Aluminum pedal kit from Grubbs Infiniti, which didn't include a pedal for the emergency brake. So, at Grubb's suggestion, I purchased a MT clutch/brake pedal to replace emergency brake pedal. The problem is that it's going to have to be glued on the brake since it's not a direct replacement.
The back of the pedal is rubber and the emergency brake is powder coated - both surfaces are pretty slippery. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to affix the pedal to the brake? What adhesive should I use?

Re: Alluminum pedals & parking brake
I mounted a clutch pedal to the E-brake as follows:
1.Trim the back of the new clutch pedal so that it will fit tight on the original rubber pad.
2. Use an adhesive (such as crazy glue) to affix the clutch pedal to the original E-pedal.
Thats all there is to it. Mine has been on for two months and it has held fine.

I also got mine from Grubbs. I took a straight blade razor
and trimmed the back side of the e-brake pedal so that it
fit snug against the original e-brake pedal. Then glued it on
with some "rubber glue" I found at Home Depot. Works great
and looks fantastic. If you go to Home Depot and look at the
adhesive section (paint department) you will find a glue that
is designed for rubber, etc.

Re: Alluminum pedals & parking brake
So you all left the original e-brake on and trimmed the new pedal to fit over it? I had assumed I had to remove the existing e-brake. Well, this will be much simpler - many thanks G-heads!

Yes, glue the new pedal to the old one. It works just fine and
looks top notch. You will never notice the old one.

Re: Alluminum pedals & parking brake
So should I purchase the 5AT pedals and the extra pedal for the ebrake, or just the 6MT kit? The question here is if the clutch pedal is the same as the extra pedal they sell for $21.99.
Anyone in the know?

I'm afraid you'll need to get the 5AT kit and the 6MT clutch pedal. It costs more and the 5AT kit really should include the e-brake pedal. The 6MT has a different sized brake pedal, so the 6MT kit isn't compatible with the 5AT kit.

I'm sure the e-brake pedal is the same as the clutch pedal.
Call Grubbs, they can confirm this. This is what they told me.

Chinee,
Don't buy the 6MT kit as the brake pedal wont fit out 5AT brake pedal!

Re: Alluminum pedals & parking brake
The 5AT e-brake *is* the 6MT clutch pedal - the 5AT kit doesn't include the e-brake, so you have to buy the 6MT clutch pedal separately.

Slight type-o in your post thgr8tg35, it should be http://www.everythingg35.com. It's a *really* good site - thanks a lot for the link! Their kit includes the e-brake and definitely is competitively priced.

Re: Alluminum pedals & parking brake
There's no factory e-brake aluminum pedal, they are selling the 6MT clutch or brake pedal to fit the ebrake.
I was lucky and bought mine through Ebay for just $11.83 shipped but I haven't installed it.
Another member told me that he pulled the old rubber cover off and used urethane windshield adhesive to install the new one.
