Thermostat & overheating issue

Does any body know where the thermostat is located at? any pictures and instructions on how to replace it?

My issue: My car last week with 100-110 temp in socal my car started to throw out warm air and my temp in the car started to rise. It never overheated because i would turn off the A/C and the temp would drop back to normal. The warm air issue was on/off sometimes previous to that....sometimes it would get warm..then kick in again to cold....then again warm later on and back to cold. Any suggestions on what can be the issue? I'm going to get radiator flush this week...but should i replace the thermostat while i am at it?

Thanks my peoples.

Check your coolant level as well. Sounds like you could use a flush too.

My car has 141,000 miles on it. 2003 Sedan

Im having this similar issue again. My cars temp is reaching way to high...close to overheating 75% high. This only happens when the A/C is on and i am in a stop and go traffic, idling for a while or on the regular road. On the freeway is ok and fine. My A/C starts to get warm and muggy and the temp rises. When i turn off the A/C my temp gauge goes back to normal. This happened before and I did a radiator flush and replaced the thermostat. It worked fine afterwards. Could this had happened again because of the heat here in socal..freakin 108+ lolz?? My mechanic said the thermostat was bad before..did the thermostat go out again?? or could it be something else? How can i check?

do the flush first and then worry about the thermostat. With 140k on the car the previous owner(s) might have never changed the coolant on the car therefore causing the car not to cool efficiently.

Make sure you have no air bubbles in the coolant passages. There is a very detailed procedure to getting out air bubbles when removing/replacing coolant. Just a couple bubbles could cause cooling problems.

take your old thermostat and boil it in a pot of tap water in the kitchen to see if it still works. if its broken - then you prob had solved your problem

if it isnt broken - then i would imagine that the electrical connection to your aux fan is broken

coolant forms a gunk after it has been left in a vehicle for too long - it then accumalates on various components - rotting away things as important as your water pump
