Not that a drive a G35 at work, but there have been several occasions when Ive been in a hurry and thrown the shifter into park before coming to a complete stop and jumping out.

Like the above poster stated, I dont think you can put it into park while driving. The shifter may say "P" but I beleive its a safety function that wont allow it.

I think you're fine

Yepp, my friend did the same thing but since he has the valve body upgrade it engaged Park and locked up the rear wheels at like 20ish mph. He was also in a state of shock but everything was fine.

A few months after I got my car, my friend was pissed at me and threw my car in park. He had a sore shoulder as i lost it in a fit of rage. BUT it clicked and slowed me to a stop. Worst noise i have ever heard. I was so worried.

You're going to need to rebuild your tranny in the long run. It'll start to feel loose over time and one day, you'll just rev and go no where. Like the car is in neutral.

Take it to a mechanic and have them look at it. Tell them what you did. After they laugh at you for shifting like that with an automatic, they should let you know what's going on.

Yes, the clicking noise is the parking pawl. Its a mechanical feature and not really a peice of smart technology. Simple physics is all that keeps the trans from going into park...not the tcu. Above a certain speed, the pawl cannot seat into a groove around an shaft in the trans and lock the vehicle in park.

This is a typical parking pawl. If the shaft is turning, you could see how the pawl would dance on top and never really seat. But, there is always a chance it will fall intoma groove and lock the wheels. At higher speeds, it just becomes less likely due to physics. The slower it turns, the easier for it to catch into park. Btw, this is also why inuse my parking brake as well on slopes

If you were going slower though, it could happen. Also, at higher speeds, there is always the fluke chance it does catch. I once accidentally tossed a car I had into p at 30 mph. The rear wheels locked up on me. But same car and I did it again at 20mph and just heard the clicking noise.

Those lights should all turn off again when you turn the engine off. You just freaked out the VDC system. If those lights come back on scan the car and see what codes it's throwing.
