car sounds like a giant massive fan

I have a 2003 G35 sedan

I just recently bought. Car is fast as hell, no doubt about it. But I don't know if this is normal....when driving like say in parking garage slowly, just a bit of gas it sounds like a giant fan , or like a V12 large car moving, sounds intimidating...but not sure if this is normal. Even when in park, if I rev the engine, it just sounds like the fan is going hard and it's a massive fan or something sucking/blowing in air

I doubt this is normal, and worry there is something wrong with the car...please help!

sounds like the A/C fan, check the water temprature neadle make sure it stays stationary in the middle. If everything is normal i would suggest to flush ur coolant.

everything is stock (for now, just picked up the car)....the AC is not on, well it's not powered on or displayed as being, unless it's possessed or something, then again it is affected by that AUDIO/Climate bad board thing, getting ti fixed on Monday. But like it sounds real loud, deep, bossy...

So that sounds is not correct then right? it should sound quiet and smooth?

sounds like to me your clutch fan is engaged. Is it hot where you live ? Shouldn't be engaged all the time though.

I've noticed this as well. I have an 03 automatic too. When I start up the car, I hear a loud sound from the fan. I've opened the hood and stared at the huge fan whirling, and it sure does make a lot of noise. Perhaps this is just the way the 03s were made.

But if you give it a bit of gas while in park, just to rev it...does it roar louder? Like it's a deep load roar..like a friggin muscle car or something

I have an 03 as well, bought it just a little over a year ago. When I bought it, on a cold start it was pretty quiet and started smoothly. In the last 3-4 months my car has gotten a lot louder and on a cold start the fan sound is ridiculously loud. Once the car warms up, then it quiets down and if I start the car again later in the day the start isn't so rough. I live in Ontario too, always thought it was more just weather attributed cause it seems to be worse in the cold months.

My car does this too, but only if I rev it when the engine hasn't warmed up yet. After about 30 secs to a minute, it's fine.

i dunno if you are familiar with the mechanical fan that nissan puts in a lot of their vehicles....especially the older z's and the 240sx. But i have an early 2004 and i also have a mechanical fan setup. You will get that loud airplane sound from the fan when the clutch is engaged. It sux but either get used to it or do a fan conversion which is what i'm planning on doing.
