US more expensive than CANADA?
US more expensive than CANADA?
I've checked infiniti.com vs. infiniti.ca
when i choose a black leather sedan with premium, winter package
it works out to $34025 US on infiniti.com
that becomes $34025 x 1.51 = $51377.75CAN
but the same thing sells for like $42000 CAN in canada...
so are the cars more expensive in US or am i missing something?

Re: US more expensive than CANADA?
Oh yeah, that's usually the case...they just have the lowest GAS price, and lower tax in some states. Don't forget, we pay 15% tax in Ontario on almost everything we buy.

Re: US more expensive than CANADA?
The cars when imported are subsidized by the government for sales revenue and to keep the market up and stablized. While I was at the dealersihp talking to my salesman they received a call from a guy in the states who wanted to buy the car and ship it down. No can do cause it ends up costing more with import duties from Canada to US plus you lose the Warranty.

Re: US more expensive than CANADA?
There's kind of a gray market for some cars bought in Canada and shipped to the US because of the price differential and sometimes availability. I know that the new T-bird, when factoring in exchange, etc., was about $15K less or something. Many manufacturers are cracking down on this practice and not providing warraanty service, but apparently some are.
