I bought 2004 G35X in December and have driven it 2K miles.

I'm getting 12 - 14 MPG with mostly highway driving. That's seems low, even for a 3,600 pound, 270 HP AWD car.

I've had the car serviced by the dealer, but they insist everything is OK and can't explain the poor fuel economy.

Is anyone getting better mileage?

Re: 2004 G35X AWD Gas Mileage
If I drive nice, I get around 16 between city and highway. I'm not too concerned yet as I start the car to let it warm up in the morning and leaving work. I also "drive it" when I can. I'll see what the MPG turns out to be once the weather gets nicerand I don't start my car and let it idle so much.

Around town is 12-14.. just got 21mpg on a road trip over the weekend with speeds between 70-80. I think the mpg is slowly improving as all of the gears get broken in a bit. It now has 1500 miles on it and we are going to get the fluids changed this weekend, so maybe it will improve a bit more.

I now have 2200 miles on the X. Most of my short trips get me 16-17mpg. I just a highway trip. Averaged 21.8mpg on that tank.

SUV in sports clothing! Imagine what the Armada and QX56 must be getting. To date the only real complaint I have is that the gas consumption sucks.

Re: 2004 G35X AWD Gas Mileage
Since the X just came out, my guess is most people are having a blast in empty parking lots and finishing up break-in's... meaning it's time to redline and see what she can do. All that spirited driving sucks down the gas, but it's totally worth it to me. My fuel economy averaged 15mpg during 1200mi break-in. I'm at 1600 now with 18-20mpg mixed city and freeway driving.

Re: 2004 G35X AWD Gas Mileage
I bought my G35x in late December. I've got 4500 miles now. Initially I was consistently getting 15mpg with combo highway/city aggressive driving. Now it's regularly 19mpg with same driving patterns, same gas, etc. Seems to be breaking in nicely.

Re: 2004 G35X AWD Gas Mileage
I also bought my X in December and I hate the mileage as well. I'm getting roughly 16-18 MPG in the city and close to 21-22 MPG on the highway. Not what I really wanted to see especially with the TL supposedly getting close to 31 or so on the freeway with 270 HP. Anyway, feeling the same about my tank as well...

thanks,
Steiner

Those are the numbers I get on my 2003 Sedan with 35K miles
on it. Accept the fact that we get lousey mileage, but a lot of fun!

Re: 2004 G35X AWD Gas Mileage
I'm averaging just about 20 MPG, with a number of trips across the state to Tahoe. During the first 2,000 miles, with fewer long trips, the average was about 17 MPG.

If you want better mileage, you could slow down, but you wouldn't have much fun then, would you?
