I'm trying to install my new water temp Defi gauge and I tired wiring it but ran into some issues. There are 4 wires. one 12v that is the battery wire (which I have spliced and is in between the battery terminal and the battery clamp. One Black ground wire which I have grounded on a nut by the blower under the glove box. Then there are two wires. One 12v wire for when ignition is on and one 12volt for when the lamp is on. What can I hook these too? I'm mounting the gauge on the side of the radio by the glove box.

I tried hooking the 12v when the ignition is on to the cig power but I have no power to the gauge.

Please help me out!!

First, take it to someone with automotive electrical experience. Splicing a wire into the battery feed without fuse protection is playing with fire.

Possibly the ground is not good. Sometimes a nut is only connected to plastic. You need to verify all connection points with a voltmeter before you hook it up. You can get a cheap one from Radio Shack.

grounded metal to metal. I'm having a hard time trying to find a place to wire the Lamp on wire. Evrything else is good.

What kind of defi gauge are you installing? I'm pretty sure that when I installed the link meter for my BF gauges, I ran the 12v ON wire from the cigarette lighter, and the lamp dimmer wire I spliced into a wire for the stereo which ran in a byndle down the passenger side of the head unit. Can't remember what color it was, but a test light should tell you pretty easily.
